- The Republic of Porkdom at George Ranch – Scarf down heaps of pork and cornbread when George Ranch Historical Park hosts a celebration of the two Southern staples. At the event, you can learn about the history of the dishes and their importance to early Texians. Admission is $15; $12 ages 65 and up; $10 ages 4 to 12; free age 3 and under. 10am to 5pm.
- Market Street Fall Fine Arts Show | No Cover – Browse local artwork, listen to live music, and observe or participate in various artist demonstrations at the Market Street Fall Fine Arts Show in The Woodlands. You can expect to see paintings, photography, jewelry, metal works, sculptures, digital art, and mixed media available for purchase. 10am to 7pm.
- Drag Diva Brunch: Beyonce at House of Blues – All hail the Queen Bey with a Drag Diva Brunch dedicated to the Houston native at House of Blues Restaurant and Bar. Expect performances of all Beyonce’s biggest hits, including “Single Ladies,” “Flawless,” and “Crazy in Love.” Tickets are $40 and include seating, a meal, and a choice of mimosa or a bloody mary for ages 21 and up. 11am.
- The Market at Sawyer Yards | No Cover – Shop a curated selection of specialty foods, folk art, and artisan crafts during this market hosted by The Washington Avenue Arts District. 11am to 5pm.
- 7th Annual Houston AfriFest – Experience the sights, sounds, tastes, and cultures of various African countries during the seventh annual Houston AfriFest, held on the Houston Baptist University campus. They’ll offer authentic cuisine, live music and dance performances, and shopping, as well as games raffles fit for all ages. Tickets are $5 in advance; $10 on the day of the event; free for ages 12 and under, students with valid IDs, and ages 60 and up. Noon to 8pm.
- 19th Annual Intuitive & Wellness Fair at Sundance Yoga Studio in Friendswood | No Cover – Discover and experience a variety of health and wellness services at the nineteenth annual Intuitive & Wellness Fair in Friendswood. Services include henna tattoos, ionic foot detox baths, light therapy, essential oil readings with chakra release, angelic readings, tarot, reiki, massage, acupuncture, Graston technique and more. Participants can try a 20-minute experience for $20. 2pm to 7pm.
- Houston Jerk Fest 2019 at Midtown Park – Spice up your Saturday with the Houston Jerk Fest, which includes a jerk seasoning cookout and competition, as well as food trucks, live music, a kids zone, and shopping, all at Midtown Park. Tickets start at $20. 2pm to 10pm.
- Flor in Concert at House of Blues – The 4-piece indie rock band from Oregon, Flor, performs live at House of Blues with support from Joan and Lostboycrow. Tickets are $18. 7pm.
- The Rocket Summer in Concert at White Oak Music Hall – Feel the love at a pop rock concert by The Rocket Summer, the solo-project of Bryce Avary who hails from the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and producer has released six studio albums and is now touring in support of his latest, Sweet Shivers. Tickets start at $16, but you may find better, cheaper, or hard-to-get seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 7:30pm.
- Mary Poppins Returns Movie Screening at Sugar Land Town Square | FREE – Treat the kids to a movie on the lawn at Sugar Land Town Square, which this week will feature a screening of the 2018 film, Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns. 7:30pm to 9:30pm.
- The Roula and Ryan Road Show at Revention Music Center – Put a face to the voices of 104.1 KRBE’s morning radio show, Roula & Ryan, as they take the stage of Smart Financial Centre. Expect to see the show’s signature bits, including Roula & Ryan’s Roses, Special K’s Prank Calls, and The Mystery Box, throughout the adults-only evening. Tickets start at $25, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. 6:30pm.
- FestEve! A Night for the Arts at Rice University – Celebrate local artists at FestEve A Night for the Arts at Rice University. Benefiting The Community Artists’ Collective, the annual event will feature local artwork, performing artists, silent auction, light bites, and refreshments. Tickets are $150. 6:30pm.
- Rice Owls vs. Texas Longhorns at NRG Stadium – Cheer on your college football team when the Rice Owls take on the Texas Longhorns for the first time in four years at NRG Stadium. Tickets start at $25, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 7pm.
- Paul Anka: Anka Sings Sinatra at The Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston – Enjoy to the swoon-worthy croons of Paul Anka as he sings all your favorite Frank Sinatra hits at The Grand in Galveston. Tickets start at $50. 8pm.
- The Incredibles 2 Movie Screening at Discovery Green | FREE – Bring the kids to a free screening of The Incredibles 2 this Saturday night at Discovery Green. In this action-packed sequel, Helen leaves Bob at home to navigate “normal” life with Violet and Dash. 8pm to 9:30pm.
- Michael Blackson at Arena Theatre – Catch a live stand-up show by the Ghanaian comedian and actor, Michael Blackson, who has performed alongside notable names like Martin Lawrence and Shaquille O’Neal. Tickets start at $39. 8:30pm.

- Sawyer Farm & Flea at 2313 Edwards St. | No Cover – Shop this weekly market of curated vendors, featuring local makers, artisan goods, and gourmet foods. 9am to 1pm.
- Super Villains & Brews at Karbach Brewing Co | No Cover – Dress up as your favorite villainous character for this afternoon event in the Karbach biergarten. They’ll have themed art on display, as well as games, toys, a DJ, cosplay and more. Noon to 8pm.
- Houston Texans vs Jacksonville Jaguars at NRG Stadium – Watch the Houston Texans take the field for their home opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars at NRG. Tickets start at $46, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. Noon
- International Cup at Houston Polo Club – Cheer on your favorite team as the Houston Polo Club hosts the Intercontinental Cup match. There will also be live flamenco guitar music, a player parade, a champagne divot stomp at halftime and the chance to ride a pony hop. You can also enter a drawing to win a complimentary polo lesson. Tickets start at $30 for adults; $15 for children on the Red Oak Lawn; Grandstand seats for 2 to 20 people range from $79 to $695. 5pm.
- Unplugged: Heights Funk Collective in Concert at Discovery Green | FREE – Get down to an unplugged show by the Heights Funk Collective, a nine-piece fusion group that blends funk with R&B, Latin, and jam improvisations. 5pm to 9pm.
- El Grito at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Commemorate Mexican Independence Day with a traditional Grito ceremony and musical performance honoring Don Antonio Aguilar at Miller Outdoor Theatre. 7:30pm.
