- Paws for Prevention at Rob Fleming Park | FREE – Walk your furry friend through Rob Fleming Park in support of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and mental health awareness. The dog-friendly event will offer plenty of water stations, food trucks, entertainment, and exhibitors offering further information on mental health and suicide prevention. 8am.
- HealthFest Houston at Discovery Green | FREE – Live your best, healthiest life with tips, workouts, recipes, and information showcased at HealthFest Houston in Discovery Green. The family-friendly event promotes healthy living with interactive exhibits, vendors, live entertainment and more. 10am to 6pm.
- Playhouse on the Prairie presents Oz: There’s No Place Like It at Prohibition Theatre – Catch a family-friendly performance of Oz: There’s No Place Like It, an immersive theatrical experience presented by Playhouse on the Prairie. The play follows the story of Dorothy once she returns to Kansas from the land of Oz, only to find that home isn’t quite what it once was. Tickets are $20, but limited discounted $10 tickets are available for most shows. Noon.
- Hire Houston Youth On-The-Spot Hiring Event | FREE – Discover and apply for the perfect summer job at Hire Houston Youth’s on-the-spot hiring event, an initiative from Mayor Sylvester Turner in partnership with the local McDonald’s owners/operators of Greater Houston. 10am to 2pm.
- Soap Making Workshop at Love and Make in Rice Village – The popular DIY duo debuts their new custom melt and pour soap-making workshop, where participants can choose from various colors, fragrances, and molds. Soaps can also be infused with luxurious skincare ingredients like oils, clays, and dried botanicals. $45. 11am.
- Southern Fried Chicken Fest Houston at Peggy Park – Scarf down crispy fried chicken from some of Houston’s top chefs, food trucks, and restaurants at the Southern Fried Chicken Fest in Peggy Park. You can upgrade to VIP for liquor, beer and wine pairings, as well as cooking demonstrations led by celebrated chefs. Tickets start at $23. 1pm to 7pm.
- Love & Make’s Candle Making Workshop in Rice Village – Join Love & Make for an interactive soy wax candle-making workshop. Instructors will teach you the fundamentals of candle-making from start to finish in a fun, laid-back environment. Experience the joy of designing your very own, signature candle fragrance. 3pm and 7pm.
- Ink&Image 2019, Red…or Not Opening Reception at Archway Gallery | FREE – Enjoy complimentary light bites and wine while seeing the debut of this new print exhibition, featuring the work of six artists. 5pm too 8pm. Artist talk at 6:30pm.
- 30th Annual Accordion Kings & Queens at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Dance along to a variety of accordion music, including conjunto, zydeco, Cajun, and polka, as Texas Folklife presents the 30th annual Accordion Kings & Queens concert at Miller Outdoor Theatre. 7pm.
- Jessie James Decker in Concert at House of Blues – The country-pop singer-songwriter, Jessie James Decker, performs live at House of Blues in Downtown. Tickets start at $34.50. 7pm.
- SPA presents Complexions Contemporary Ballet in Stardust at Jones Hall – Pay tribute to the life and music of David Bowie with a glittery, glamorous dance performance by Complexions Contemporary Ballet at Jones Hall. Featuring styles that range from hip hop to ballet, Stardust combines technical precision, power, and passion for an awe-inspiring show. Tickets start at $35. 7:30pm.
- Jimmy Buffett and the Coral Reefer Band in Concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion – Gather your fellow parrotheads for a live show by the iconic songster, Jimmy Buffett, when he and his band perform at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion in The Woodlands. Tickets start at $46, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. 8pm.
- Pancakes & Booze Art Show at Warehouse Live – Pair booze and local artwork with free pancakes when this touring pop-up returns to Warehouse Live. You can also enjoy music from local DJs and producers, as well as live body painting and more. Tickets start at $10. 8pm.
- Houston Dynamo vs. Kansas City at BBVA Compass Stadium – Cheer on the Dynamo as they play Kansas City in a home game at BBVA Compass Stadium. Tickets start at $24, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. 8:30pm.
- Ne-Yo in Concert at Arena Theatre – Swoon to the melodic voice of R&B vocalist and songwriter Ne-Yo as he teams up with fellow musician Tamia for a live show at Arena Theatre. Tickets start at $79.50, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. 8:30pm.

- Bayou Bikers Ride at Market Square Park | FREE – Join Bayou Bikers for a 25- to 40-mile ride along the bayous. Meet at Market Square Park. 8am.
- Sweet Desserts Fest at The Houston Event Venue – Satisfy your sweet tooth at this dessert-themed experience in EaDo. You can sample various sweets, enjoy adult beverages, enter a raffle, and shop local vendors. Tickets start at $10, plus fees. Noon to 2pm and 3pm to 5pm.
- Vaqueros Classic at Houston Polo Club – Watch from the stands as two polo teams compete in the Vaqueros Classic at the Houston Polo Club. You can also expect live music, a best gentlemen’s hat contest, concessions from Ruth’s Chris, and a Champagne divot stomp. Tickets start at $30 for adults; $15 for children on the Red Oak Lawn; Grandstand seats for 2 to 20 people range from $79 to $695. 5pm.
- Bayou City Jazz Series at Wortham Theater Center – Listen to a fusion of funk, R&B, rock, and electric jazz when the Bayou City Jazz Series presents the talented saxophonist Eric Darius with keyboardist Jeff Lorber at Wortham Theater Center. Tickets start at $53.50. 5pm.
- Rooney in Concert at House of Blues – Sh-sh-shake it out at a House of Blues concert by pop rockers Rooney, best known for 2000s jams like “When Did Your Heart Go Missing?,” “Blueside,” and “I’m Shakin’.” Tickets cost $20, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. 7pm.
- SPA presents Comedian Hannah Gadsby in Douglas at Jones Hall – Laugh it up when Hannah Gadsby, the comedic genius behind Netflix’s Nanette, brings her stand-up show to Jones Hall. Tickets start at $44.75, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. 7:30pm.
