  • Broadway Across America presents The Girl from the North Country at Hobby Center | Daily – In Duluth, Minnesota, in 1934, we meet a group of travelers whose lives intersect at a boarding house. Written and directed by acclaimed playwright Conor McPherson, the play reimagines 20 of Bob Dylan’s songs, including “Forever Young,” “Slow Train Coming” and “Like a Rolling Stone.” $35 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • Houston Symphony presents Pines Of Rome & Grieg’s Piano Concerto at Jones Hall | Thursday, Saturday & Sunday – Romanian virtuoso Alexandra Dariescu joins the orchestra for Grieg’s famous Piano Concerto, a guaranteed crowd pleaser adored for its memorable tunes and dramatic flair. Then, visions of Rome are rendered with a palette of spectacular orchestral colors in Respighi’s beloved composition. $39 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • 200th Anniversary Rodeo at the George Ranch Historical Park | Friday & Saturday – This historic park hosts a family-friendly bicentennial celebration, honoring Texas heritage. Get up close to the action to see cowboys ropin’, bustin’ and riding’. $10 and up. 4:30pm.
  • Comedian Sugar Sammy at the Riot Comedy Club | Friday & Saturday – Known for routines that provoke and unify in equal measures, Sugar Sammy lands in Houston as part of his North American tour. The Hollywood Reporter called him one of “Ten Comics to Watch” around the world. $25 and up. 7pm and 9pm.
  • Comedian Nick Swardson at Houston Improv | Friday & Saturday – The comedian, actor, writer and producer, who’s a regular guest on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and Conan, comes to the Bayou City for a series of live sets. $70 and up. Times vary.

  • La Izquierda Surf & Music Festival at Galveston’s Beach Central | Friday to Sunday – Head down to the island for a three-day celebration of beach culture and live music, with more than 30 acts including headliners The Nude Party, Kam Franklin, Tanya Nolan and others. Expect surf competitions, vendors, food trucks, art installations and more. Free on Friday; $25 per day on Saturday and Sunday. Times vary.
  • Houston Astros vs. Seattle Mariners at Minute Maid Park | Friday to Sunday – Star Wars Weekend arrives at the ballpark when the Astros take on division rivals from Seattle. All weekend long, you can take advantage of promotional giveaways like a Kyle Tucker Space City jersey, an Alex Bregman bobblehead, and a mesh tote bag, plus the concourse will be roaming with characters from the beloved franchise. $37 and up. Times vary.
  • Galveston Historic Homes Tour | Saturday & Sunday – Step into the past on this self-guided tour of some of the Island’s most beautiful homes. All have been lovingly preserved by their owners, and showcase both individual taste and examples of exquisite architecture. $50 and up. 10am to 6pm.
  • Rūng Film Fest at MATCH | Saturday & Sunday – This weekend film festival showcases original stories told through the lens of Pakistani filmmakers, writers, and actors from around the world. Films are presented in three-hour blocks, with panel discussion, and a grand feature film will cap off each night. Tickets are available by the block for $15; panels are free with registration. Feature presentations and receptions are $50. 11am to 10pm.
  • Kingwood Chorale: Choral Classics Old & New Around Kingwood | Saturday & Sunday – Hear classic and new choral masterpieces as the choral ensemble celebrates 35 years of making music. It’s an opportunity to revisit favorite selections written for multiple voices, and discover new music. $30. Saturday 7pm; Sunday 3pm.
  • International Voices Houston presents Encores at MATCH | Saturday & Sunday – Houston’s premier multicultural choir brings back several memorable favorites from over the years, along with exciting new compositions. This choral program features music in several languages, including English, Korean, Spanish, Bosnian, French, Japanese, Arabic, Swahili, Hebrew, Italian, Latin, Akan, and Maori. $25. Saturday at 7pm; Sunday at 3pm.

  • Joey’s Pop Up Party at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – National recording artist Joey comes to the Hermann Park stage for an afternoon of singing, dancing and a guest performance by Aldine Dance Company. 11am.
  • Joy Fest for Realtors at Jubilee – Realtors are invited to Johnston Development’s newest community in Hockley, known as Jubilee. The preview event features free food and drink, eight model homes available to tour, giveaways, games and more. 11am to 2pm.
  • Pop Up on the Plaza at Midtown Park | FREE – This weeknight pop-up in Midtown offers local food trucks and music alongside a mini marketplace, lawn games, ping pong, and picture-worthy moments. 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
  • Vince King: Elvis Tribute at Heritage Park | FREE – The Conroe park space hosts Vince King for an evening of music chronicling the career of the King, including many beloved Elvis hits in this outdoor concert. Bring a blanket or lawn chair, and purchase bites from the food trucks that will be onsite. 7pm.
  • Star Wars Trivia at Houston Toy Museum – The Force will be with you and your friends as you gather to show off your knowledge about all things Star Wars. From droids to plotlines, characters and more, this is an opportunity to enjoy an evening with fellow Star Wars fans. Tickets include admission to the museum. $10. 7pm.
  • UHD Thursday Night Concert at Discovery Green | FREE – The annual Downtown concert series returns with Grupo Fantasma, a nine-piece collective praised as an important ensemble in Latin music. Grupo Vadenagi opens. 7pm.
  • Hozier in Concert at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion – Best known for his song “Take Me To Church,” the Irish musician and singer-songwriter comes to the Woodlands for a live concert. Allison Russell opens the show in suport. $120 and up. 7:30pm.
  • Ballyhoo in Concert at the Secret Group – The American reggae and punk band, who call themselves “beach rockers,” comes to Houston to perform live in EaDo. $20. 8pm.
  • Spyro Gyra in Concert at the Heights Theater – The fusion band, known for its infectious beats and blending of jazz, R&B, funk and pop music comes to Houston as part of its 50th anniversary tour. Known for “Morning Dance” and “Havana Moonlight,” the band has drawn legions of fans across the last five decades. $48 and up. 8pm.
