But if you want to skip both holidays all together, there’s still plenty to keep you busy.

  • UP Abilities: An Extraordinary Evening of Extraordinary ExpertsGet inspired at the final event of the ReelAbilities: Houston Disabilities Film Festival. This event is part of the ReelAbilities: Houston Disabilities Film Festival. $100. 5:15pm.
  • Vaccinations at Children’s Museum of Houston | FREE – Get your child’s vaccinations for free from the Texas Children’s Mobile Clinic when they park at the Children’s Museum of Hosuton. Stick around afterwards for free family night Thursday at the museum. Vaccinations available for children aged 6 months to 18 years; must have immunization records handy. 5pm to 7pm.
  • Singles Bingo Bash at Hotel Derek – Join like-minded singles for an evening of cocktails, light bites, live music and bingo. Prizes include a weekend stay in a Hotel Derek suite, $200 bar tab at Revolve Kitchen + Bar and more. Your ticket scores you valet parking, a signature cocktail plus tastings and five games of Bingo. $35 per person. 6pm to 9pm.
  • Pay-What-You-Want Movie Screening of David Cross’ HITS at Sundance Cinemas – Take part in the worldwide, cross-country premier of actor and comedian David Cross’s directorial debut. The dark comedy will be showing at Sundance through the next week, although at a standardized price. 7:30pm.
  • Drunken Cupid at Yellow Rose Distillery Sip on Yellow Rose cocktails and hear from Millionaire Matchmaker Jamie Rose as she shares dating misconceptions and advice. Sorry fellas, this event is for women only. $10. 6:30pm to 8:30pm.
  • Rice Owls vs. Middle Tennessee State at Rice University Watch the men’s basketball team at Rice play against the MTSU Blue Raiders. Tickets start at $12. 7pm.
  • Celtic Thunder at Bayou Music CenterWitness Irish singing group the Celtic Thunder perform live at Bayou Music Center. Tickets start at $53. 7:30pm.

  • Krewe du Blue Mardi Gras BashSnack on light bites, enjoy drink specials and live music, and go home with a lot of beads at this Mardi Gras Bash at House of Blues. $16.50. 7pm.
  • Bernadette Peters at Houston SymphonyYou won’t want to miss seeing Tony Award winning vocalist Bernadette Peters with the Housotn Symphony Orchestra. Tickets start at $39. 7:30pm.
  • Moulin Rouge Sing-Along at Alamo Drafthouse Mason ParkCompete in a cancan dance contest and sing along to your favorite Moulin Rouge songs at this karaoke style movie screening. $12. 7:30pm.
  • Katt Williams at Toyota Center Laugh at comedian Katt Wiliam’s stand up when he comes to the Toyota Center downtown. Tickets start at $67, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale site. 8pm.
  • Sunny Sweeney at Firehouse SaloonHear Texan country singer Sunny Sweeney perform at Firehouse Saloon. $15 in advance; $20 at the door. 9pm.
