  • Caribbean International Fest at Amity Park in Alief – The Caribbean Chamber of Commerce of Texas launches its first ever all-day festival with a diverse array of musical acts and foods from the Caribbean tropics and across Houston. $5; free for kids 10 and under. 10am to 9pm.
  • 3rd Pearland Wine and Food Festival – Browse and sample the offerings from Los Pinos Ranch Vineyards, Dionisio Winery, Red 55 Winery, Haak Vineyards and Winery and Maydee Country Wines. Noon to 8pm. $25 for two people.
  • Labor Day Weekend at Waterway Square in The Woodlands | FREE – Enjoy live music from Parker McCollum and Holly Hicks, followed by fireworks to cap off the summer. 6pm to 9:30pm; fireworks begin around 9pm.
  • Bounce TV Music Fest at Toyota Center  – Enjoy an R&B showcase featuring Maze with Frankie Beverly, Patti LaBelle and American Idol’s Ruben Studdard.  You may find cheaper or better seats on the ticket resale market. 7pm.
  • Disney in Concert: Magical Music from the Movies with the Houston Symphony in The Woodlands | FREE lawn seating – Enjoy a program featuring classic hits from The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King and Pirates of the Caribbean. $15 orchestra seating; free lawn seating. 8pm.
  • Fandango: A Night in Madrid at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Join the musicians of Mercury for a program of lively music influence by Spain, including Boccherini’s guitar showpiece, Fandango and his colorful musical depiction of the city of Madrid. 8pm.
  • LSU Tigers vs. University of Wisconsin Badgers at AdvoCare Texas Kickoff at NRG Stadium – Get the college ball season started as Lousiana State battles Wisconsin. Tickets start at $80. You find cheaper or better seats on the ticket resale market. 8:10pm.
  • LMAO Comedy Tour at Arena Theatre – Kick back and get ready to laugh with this four-pack featuring Tony Rock, Capone, Tiffany Haddish and Rob Stapleton. $20 to $38. 8pm.
  • The Nocturnal Amusement Hour at the Station Theater – Join Kelly Juneau and friends for a variety show boasting stand up, sketch, improv, stories and music. $6. 8:30pm to 10pm.
  • Bizarro Blockbusters: For Y’Ur Height Only Movie Screening at Alabama Song Art Space | FREE – Join Suplex for this screening of director Eddie Nicart’s 1981 Filipino action thriller, “For Y’Ur Height Only,” a high flying, sliding, and soaring adventure featuring martial artist and action star Ernesto de la Cruz (Weng Weng) as three-foot tall Agent 00. 8:30pm to 10:30pm.

  • Run For Wellness at George Bush Park | FREE – Join the Houston Wellness Project for this end-of-summer edition of the free monthly run. You must register before 11:59pm on Thursday August 28 if you want an official chip time. Anyone is welcome to run without registration if they don’t require an official chip time. 7:30am to 8am.
  • Kids Day at the Amazing Houston Comic Con in Downtown Houston – Enjoy free sketches, cartoons, video games, costume contests and other stuff programmed especially from kids. $25; free for ages 10 and under. 10am to 6pm.
  • Labor Day Sunday at Pub Fiction – Enjoy breakfast to 2pm and all day drink specials. DJ Bizonee takes to the turntables at 10pm. 10:30am to 2am.
  • Celtic Gardens Labor Day Sunday – Party with $10 mimosa carafes, $5 sangrias, $4 Guiinness and Saint Arnold’s drafts. Music from DJ Kyle Berg at 3pm and Tony Styles at $10. 11am to 2pm.
  • Fiestas Patrias Fest in Downtown Houston – Kick off Hispanic Heritage month with an all-day party for the whole family, featuring a concert by Mexican and International artists, great Latin foods, interactive games and more. $15 in advance; $20 at the gate; free for ages 9 and under. 11am to 10pm.
  • Labor Day Backyard Party at the Ginger Man – Enjoy an afternoon of live music and specials on pints from Rahr and Sons. 1pm to 2am.
  • Prairie View A&M vs. Texas Southern University in the Labor Day Classic at NRG Stadium – TSU takes on Prarie View in this Labor Day Weekend battle. $32 to $37. 4pm.
  • Holiday Yacht Party at South Shore Harbor – Head out to sea for a five-hour party with music by DJ Bulldog, DJ 13EightLive, Mc Kut and DJ Supastar. $100. 4pm to 9pm.
  • “Heaven” White Party on Labor Day Sunday at Proof Rooftop Lounge – The upstairs outdoor deck will decked out in white, with white confetti cannons and stilt walkers. Dutch electronic dance music duo Sick Individuals headline the evening party. 6pm to 2am.
  • KISS and Def Leopard in Concert in The Woodlands – The definiing metal hair bands of the 70s and 80s plays a show that continues this summer’s theme of pairing up classic names for double feature concerts. You may find cheaper or better seats on the ticket resale market. 7pm.
  • Bollywood Blast: The Bollywood Bandwagon at Miller Outdoor Theatre | FREE – Indian Performing Arts: Samskriti performs a high-energy dance history of the decades long evolution of Bollywood dance. Vibrant costumes, intricate choreography and dramatic audio-visuals keep all ages engaged. 8pm.
