- New Year’s Day Brunches in Greater Houston – After a night of partying at the city’s best New Year’s celebrations, find the feast to cure you at some of our picks for New Year’s Day breakfasts and brunches across Greater Houston.
- New Year’s Day Hike at Memorial Park | FREE – Get a breath of fresh year to start 2024 with a 3-4 mile hike from Bayou City Outdoors. Take to the dirt trails that snake through the woods, then stick around and connect with others at a post-hike picnic. Meet at the Rally Pavilion to get started. Free; $2 for parking. 10am.
- New Year’s Day Pajama Party at Wakefield Crowbar | No Cover – Roll out of bed and spend your first morning in Garden Oaks at the sand volleyball bar. They’ll serve up $2.50 mimosa pints all day along with complimentary black-eyed peas, live music and football to ease into the year. 11am.
- New Year’s Day at Museum of Fine Arts Houston – Stroll through the MFAH galleries for a rare Monday opportunity to check out ongoing and soon-to-close exhibitions like Rembrandt to Van Gogh and Kehinde Wiley: An Archaeology of Silence. $24; $20 for ages 13 to 18; free for ages 12 and under. 11am to 5pm.
- Hangover Brunch Express at Monkey’s Tail – Hop aboard this shuttle bus that takes you from the Monkey’s Tail location in Northside to its location in Conroe to try out new brunch offerings while DJ Andy Savage provides the tropical disco vibes. $20 to reserve a spot, which goes toward your brunch tab. Noon to 4pm.
- Praia Urbana presents Resolution at Bauhaus – Celebrate the New Year at this annual all-day party. Three stages feature DJs Shiba San, Dosem, and more than 30 local artists offering a variety of music styles for your dancing and grooving pleasure. $30 and up. 2pm to late.
- Magical Winter Lights at Katy Mills – Now entering its final week, you can catch the annual dazzling display on New Year’s Day. Stroll through lantern art and millions of twinkling lights, explore themed sections, hop atop a Ferris Wheel for stunning views of the park, and more. $25; $18 for ages 3 to 12 and 65+; free for ages 2 and under. 5pm to 11pm.
- 27th Annual Townes Van Zandt Wake at Old Quarter Acoustic Cafe | FREE – Catch a live performance of different musicians covering songs by Townes Van Zandt at an annual New Year’s Day tradition. For those wishing to take the stage, the signup sheet to perform will be at the club on the day of the event. Guests may perform up to three Townes Van Zandt songs. 5:30pm.
- Bach Society Houston presents New Year’s Day Concert at Christ the King Lutheran Church | FREE – Ring in the new year as international award-winning organist Bryan Anderson presents this concert of Bach selections on the Bach organ at the Rice Village church. 6pm.
- Radiant Nature at Houston Botanic Garden – More than 50 larger-than-life Chinese lantern installations decorate the Houston Botanic Garden, bringing to life stunning displays that showcase the beauty of nature and celebrate the promise of the Lunar New Year. $28.50; free for ages 3 and under. 6pm to 10pm.
- Houston Rockets vs. Detroit Pistons at Toyota Center – Catch an evening tip-off as the Rockets take on a Detroit team that recently snapped an NBA-record 28-game losing streak. $10 and up. 7pm.
