- BCO Farmer’s Market Bike Ride at Onion Creek Cafe | FREE – Meet up with Bayou City Outdoors at Onion Creek in the Heights before heading off on a 15-mile bike ride to the Downtown Farmer’s Market and back. 8:30am to noon.
- Urban Harvest Fruit Tree Sale at Houston Community College West Loop – Pick out temperate, tropical, and/or citrus fruit trees from an extensive selection at the 18th Annual Fruit Tree Sale hosted by Urban Harvest. 9am to 1pm.
- Cups For Y’all Pop-Up Sale at HCCC – Stop by the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft to shop for handmade ceramic cups and mugs from artists around the country. 10am to 5pm.
- Snow Day in Baytown | FREE – Bring the kids to play in 75 tons of snow, slide down an eight-foot or twelve-foot slide, or tube down the bunny hill at Baytown’s 3rd Annual Snow Day in Town Square. 10am to 6pm.
- The Market at Sawyer Yards in the Washington Avenue Arts District – Shop a curated selection of specialty foods, folk art, and artisan crafts at the monthly market. 11am to 5pm.
- Annual MLK Youth Parade in Midtown – Head to Midtown to march in (or watch) the 12th Annual MLK Youth Parade featuring 10 parade floats and 20 marching bands. Noon.
- Houstonia Gumbo Smackdown in Sugar Land – Sample various gumbo recipes from some of the best restaurants in Houston at this all-you-can-eat cook-off with beer and live music at Sugar Land’s Town Square. Tickets start at $20. Noon to 3pm.
- Hops n’ Hot Sauce Festival at SpindleTap Brewery – Celebrating National Hot Sauce Day and benefiting local charity Curefest, this indoor event will also have a kids area with a bounce house, silent auction, live entertainment from local artist Gary Kyle, and a hot pepper eating contest with a $250 cash prize. Cover charge at the door. Noon to 8pm.
- Houston Cougars vs. University of Connecticut Huskies Women’s Basketball at H&PE Arena – The highly talented, first-ranked women’s basketball team from UConn visits Houston for a game against the Coogs. Tickets start at $3. 2pm.
- Pearland MLKCC Celebration of Unity Festival | FREE – Continue the recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, with the community and enjoy cultural performances, live music, kid’s activities, food, speakers, and other activities. 3pm to 7pm.
- Monster Energy AMA Supercross at NRG Stadium – Watch bikes fly high and zip through a tough course at NRG in this competition. Tickets start at $28, but you might find better, cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork resale marketplace. 6:30pm.
- Modern Greek Cooking Class with Helen at Central Market – Chef William Wright, of Helen Greek Food & Wine and Helen in the Heights, will lead this class on how to make Greek dishes including feta mousse, citrus and fennel salad, and tipiti at Central Market. $65. 6:30pm to 9pm.
- Violinist Rob Landes in Concert at Charles Bender Performing Arts Center – Head to Humble for a unique concert from boundary-breaking violinist Rob Landes at the Charles Bender Performing Arts Center. $15. 7pm.
- Chippendales 2018 at House of Blues – The fellas of Chippendales are heading to Houston for a rowdy show at House of Blues as part of their About Last Night Tour. Tickets start at $25. 7:30pm.
- Blues Brothers Revue at The Grand – Take your seat and enjoy this entertaining evening from the Blues Brothers, Kieron Lafferty (Elwood Blues) and Wayne Catania (Jake Blues), at The Grand in Galveston. Tickets start at $25. 8pm.
- The Late Show: Bathtub Full of Gin at Prohibition Supperclub – You’re in for a sexy, booze-filled evening when the Moonlight Dolls take the stage for this 1920’s show at Prohibition Supperclub. Tickets start at $20, but limited, discounted $10 tickets are available. 11:30pm.

- Chevron Houston Marathon in Downtown – Run, volunteer or stop by to support runners during the Chevron Houston Marathon and Aramco Houston Half Marathon that winds through Houston, beginning and ending in Downtown. Registration starts at $150. 6:45am.
- Marathon Watch Party at Urban Eats – Head to Urban Eats and cheer marathon runners on from the patio and terrace while keeping warm with artisan breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and coffee. 7am.
- Marathon Party at FM Kitchen and Bar | No Cover – Head to FM Kitchen and Bar for a Houston Marathon after party and enjoy Chef Ryan Hildebrand’s protein-packed menu items including the Recovery Burger and their Protein Shake. Food and drinks are on you. 11am to 10pm.
- Bugs are Back at Revolver Houston – Join Revolver in kicking of mudbug season and indulge in tasty crawfish, corn, potatoes, and drink specials on beer and cocktails. No cover charge. Crawfish is priced at $6 for 1lb and $10 for 2 lbs. Drink prices vary. Revolver opens from noon to 2am and the crawfish will be ready by 1pm.
- Quince & Bridal Expo at NRG – Find everything you need for a Quinceanera or wedding at this massive expo at NRG. Tickets start at $12. 12pm to 6pm.
- Family Fun Day at The MATCH | FREE – Bring the whole fam out to The MATCH for character visits from Main Street Theater, kid-friendly musical concerts, dance performances, face painting, balloon artists, a bounce house, and more. 1pm to 4pm.
- Peter and The Wolf Concert at the Houston Zoo – Don’t miss this rendition of Sergei Prokofiev’s classic tale “Peter and The Wolf”, a collaboration between the River Oak Chamber Orchestra and Horse Head Theatre Company. Included with admission. 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm.
- Houston Dynamo JR Academy at Memorial City | FREE – Boys and girls aged 5 to 10 can learn soccer skills at this development training session at Memorial City. 3pm to 5pm.
- Sunday Funday at Pearl Bar – Enjoy a Happy Hour and a concert from singer-songwriter Paige Lewis on Sundays at the LGBT-friendly venue, Pearl Bar. 3pm.
- MLK Battle of the Bands Competition at W.W. Thorne Stadium – More than 20 high school marching bands from around the country will face off in this competition at W.W. Thorne Stadium. 4pm to 8pm.
- Harry Potter-Themed Art Show at Texas Art Asylum – See the Harry Potter franchise in a whole new light when the Texas Art Asylum shows Harry Potter-themed works from local artists in this show. 5pm.
- Capitol Sundaze: No Work Monday Sunday at Capitol Bar in Midtown – With the Monday holiday, make the most of an extra weekend night of fun, DJ tunes, and more at Capitol Bar. There will be extra patio heaters and the first 100 to RSVP get free entry. $10 for everyone else. 5pm to 2am.
- Grease Sing-Along at Alamo Drafthouse Mason Park – Sing along to your favorite songs from the 1987 musical Grease at this movie party at Alamo Drafthouse. $12.99. 6pm.
- Free Radicals in Concert at Axelrad | No Cover – Have a drink at the Axelrad beer garden and watch the local fusion band Free Radicals. 6:30pm to 9:30pm.
- Chans Thomas in Concert at Cafeza | No Cover – Hear the Neo-soul and jazz fusion sounds of the local singer-songwriter, Chans Thomas at Cafeza. 8pm to 10pm.

MLK Day, Monday, January 15, 2018
- MLK Day at Children’s Museum of Houston – Listen to uplifting words by Gardere’s oratory speech winner, march down Kid’s Hall in celebration of civil rights, and hear the “I Have a Dream” speech at the Children’s Museum’s MLK Day Celebration. $5.
- Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Breakfast at George R. Brown Convention Center – The North Houston Frontiers Club hosts its 30th annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Breakfast at the George R Brown Convention Center. $50. 8am.
- 40th Annual MLK Jr. Parade & Celebration at Minute Maid Park | FREE – March in honor and celebrate the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at the 40th Annual MLK Jr. Parade at Minute Maid Park in Downtown, presented by The Black Heritage Society Organization. 10am.
- 24th Annual MLK Grande Parade | FREE – Meet near the HCC Central Campus and march in this annual parade that celebrates the life of Martin Luther King Jr. 10am.
- Zumba at Levy Park | FREE – Get moving at this free one hour Zumba class at Levy Park. 11am.
- MLK Day Audio Installation at Rothko Chapel | FREE – In honor of MLK Day, the Rothko Chapel will play various speeches from his life throughout the afternoon. 11am, 1pm, 3pm, and 5pm.
- Valentines for Veterans at Saint Arnold Brewing Company – Get creative and make valentines for veterans at Saint Arnold Brewery and enjoy baked goods, a raffle, beer and more. Tickets are $10. Raffle tickets will be $5. 6pm to 9pm.
- Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration at Rothko Chapel – Listen in on this lecture and conversation from guest speakers about the power of symbols in society today at Rothko Chapel. 7pm.
- Black Label Society and Corrosion of Conformity at House of Blues – Head bang to music from heavy metal band Black Label Society’s latest album Grimmest Hits at this concert in Downtown. Tickets start at $30, but you may find cheaper or better seats on TicketNetwork’s resale market. 7:30pm.
