- 8th Annual National Black Film Festival at AMC 8 | Thursday to Saturday – Kicking off on Wednesday, the four-day event in Downtown showcases Black cinema and culture with thought-provoking films, engaging panel discussions and workshops, and networking with industry professionals. $8 and up. - Houston Astros vs. Kansas City Royals at Minute Maid Park | Thursday to Sunday – The ‘stros face off against the boys from Kansas City, while also celebrating man’s best friend, with a special Justin Verlander and dogs bobblehead giveaway on Saturday and Dog Day at the ballpark on Sunday. $18 and up, but you may find cheaper, better, or hard-to-find seats on the resale market. Times vary.
- Sugar Land Space Cowboys vs. Salt Lake City Bees at Constellation Field | Thursday to Sunday – The Space Cowboys continue their series (it kicks off on Tuesday) against the buzzing Bees from Utah. Always family friendly, the series includes drink specials and giveaways on select nights, plus a fireworks show on Friday. $11. Times vary.
- Houston Restaurant Weeks Around Greater Houston | Daily Through Monday | Final Days – The annual summer tradition wraps up its 21st year after this weekend. But there’s still time to take advantage of multi-course, prix-fixe menus for brunch, lunch and dinner at nearly 400 restaurants across the metro area while benefiting Houston Food Bank. $25 brunch and lunch menus; $39 or $55 dinner menus. Hours and locations vary.
- Houston Craft Beer Month 2024 Around Greater Houston | Daily Through Monday | Final Days – Drop by 14 of the region’s most prominent and award-wining breweries, snag a $25 package including beer, tastings, merch, and more and know that a portion of your proceeds go to support Houston Food Bank. Package options and venue hours vary by brewery.
- Galveston Island Wine Festival at Moody Gardens Hotel | Friday to Sunday – Held at the Moody Gardens pyramids, this event features three nights of food and drink highlighted by an extravagant seafood dinner from seven top-tier chefs, a wine tasting in the Aquarium Pyramid, and a seated Bourbon dinner inside the hotel. All events included with a hotel stay; individual events start at $150. Times vary.
- John Sebastian & Jimmy Vivino in Concert at Main Street Crossing | Friday to Sunday – Two legendary artists join forces —Rock and Roll Hall of Famer John Sebastian joins up with Conan O’Brien’s longtime music director Jimmy Vivino—for three shows at the classic Tomball music stop. $105 and up. Times vary.
- Papa Où T’es? at MATCH | Friday to Sunday – Follow four high school friends in this coming-of-age story set in Houston as they struggle through identity crises, as well as cultural and religious expectations. $60. Showtimes vary.
- Comedian Aries Spears at Houston Improv | Friday to Sunday – Best known for his appearances on MAD TV, movies like Jerry Maguire, and the talk show circuit, the comic performs live at the Spring Branch laugh house. $70 for 2, and up. Times vary.
- A.D. Players presents Esther at the George Theater | Friday to Sunday – A.D. Players presents a tale of strength, faith and strategy, as Esther navigates palace life with an all-powerful king. $36 and up. Showtimes vary.

- Live Performance at A Metta Prayer at Museum of Fine Arts, Houston – Experience an immersive sound experience from two local artists, Billion Tekleab and Viktor le Givens, in a conceptual performance tied to the museum’s ongoing Jacolby Satterwhite: A Metta Prayer exhibition. Included with all-access museum admission; $10. 6:30pm.
- Holocaust Survivor Talk with Ruth Steinfeld at Holocaust Museum Houston | FREE – Hear Ruth Steinfeld’s powerful story as her family was deported to the Gurs Interment Camp in 1940, leading her and her sister to be taken by Oeuvres de Secours aux Enfants, a Jewish philanthropic organization. 6:30pm.

- Shenseea in Concert at House of Blues – The Afro-Asian Jamaican dancehall and pop singer lands at House of Blues in support of her sophomore release, Never Gets Late Here, at the Downtown stage. $32.50 and up. 7pm.
