Take in a unique holiday show at TUTS Underground’s Striking 12, on stage at The Hobby Center’s Zilkha Hall from Thursday, December 17 through Wednesday, December 23, 2015.
Striking 12 brings a unique story and format to the Houston theater scene this holiday season, telling a feel-good, musical story about fresh new year beginnings and performed by a cast that plays their own instruments.
Only the second event of TUTS Underground’s current season, the show stars Zach Cossman on the piano, Andrea Goss on the drums and Ian Lowe playing a six-string Viper violin.
The family-friendly show gives a modern spin to the classic holiday tale The Little Match Girl, and tells of an over-worked and under-inspired single guy who decides to skip New Year’s Eve, and a light bulb saleswoman who happens to knock at his door. He’s charmed, but grumpy.
The show retains the vibrant style of its original creators and performers, New York’s celebrated power-pop trio band GrooveLily. Their skillfully-played score displays touches of pop, rock and jazz; creating a warm, feel-good story that is the perfect family-friendly alternative to the typical holiday shows.
