Order a succulent cut of black angus steak for lunch or dinner at Shula’s Steak House inside the Hyatt Regency Houston hotel in Downtown.

If you’re looking for a fine American steak that simply melts on your tongue, then Shula’s Steak House in Downtown Houston has a table for you. Tucked adjacent to the Hyatt Regency Houston’s lobby, Shula’s is a popular destination for weekday lunches and destination dinners.

Named for Don Shula, the winningest coach in NFL history with 347 wins, the restaurant presents tried-and-true dishes prepared with a modern sensibility. With crisp wood paneling and floors, white table cloths and attentive servers. Framed black and white photos showcase games and moments from Shula’s career as a player and then a coach with the NFL.

Whether they are devoted to Don Shula and the Dolphins or not, almost all football fans get a kick out of the restaurant’s steak menu, which is painted on the side of a genuine game ball from a Miami Dolphins home game. The footballs are placed upright in front of diners, giving each a chance to pick up and hold an official NFL game ball while considering their cut of meat.

Premium black angus beef steaks naturally lead the roster. Diners may also choose from four sauces; a red wine-herb demi-glaze, peppercorn sauce, béarnaise or red pepper chimichurri. Those who are not in the mood for steak can also select delicately prepared lobster tails, fresh market fish, crab cakes, scallops, lamb, salads and other dishes.

All meals at Shula’s should begin with an order the restaurant’s specialty appetizer calamari fries, lightly breaded, flash-fried calamari strips served with tomato coulis and mustard aioli.
