See Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The 54th Annual Houston St. Patrick’s Day Parade winds through downtown on Saturday, March 16.

Sticking to tradition, the Houston St. Patrick’s Day Parade happens on the Saturday before March 17. This year, following on the day before, it makes for a full weekend of St. Paddy’s fun. It starts at noon, and should all be wrapped up and over at Lucky’s Pub by 2pm.

The beloved parade kicks off at noon, starting at the clock tower by Minute Maid Park and heads west up Texas to San Jacinto. There it will take a right on San Jac and head two blocks to Preston. It will turn right on Preston and run back east to Crawford. There, as it reaches Minute Maid Park again, it will turn left and then hug the ball park, taking Congress to Hamilton to Texas. At Texas it will turn left, cross under Highway 59 to Emmanuel. Finally, it will head south on Emmanuel two block finishing up at Rusk and Lucky’s Pub. Parade awards will be handed out at Lucky’s and of course, green beer will be on hand. You can view the full route here.

The parade is free of charge and there will be great viewing locations throughout Downtown. Remember that if you part at a meter, you’ll need to pay the meter – even on a Saturday.

Of course, Houston’s full blown shenanigans and St. Patrick’s Day pub parties get started on Saturday and take on their full shape on the day itself, Sunday, March 17.
