Head to the San Jacinto Battlegrounds in La Porte to see the largest battle re-enactment at the annual San Jacinto Day Festival, Saturday, April 18, 2015.

Featuring hundred of re-enactors, and complete with cannons, horses, and things that go boom, the annual event recreates everything leading up to Texas Independence Day 179 years ago. The free fest also features family activities, food vendors, games, and live music.

Two stages will be set up for live entertainment including flamenco dancers, square dancers, and much more. Stick around for the epic cannon duel and decisive battle where Gen. Sam Houston led his Texian army to victory over the Mexican army.

After the festival, stick around for a evening farmers and art market at the Sunset Sip & Stroll in Downtown La Porte.
