Put your records on! Every day is Throwback Thursday when you spin a set of old school records. We round up a list of great vinyl shops in Houston, shelling out vintage hits to new jams, in preparation for Record Store Day, Saturday, April 18, 2015.

Old is new again as record shops see loyal customers come in to browse collections of vintage records. If you’re a newbie at vinyl or adding to your already stellar stack of Bob Dylan, Dizzy Gillespie, N.W.A., and Van Halen, stop by these classic record stores to break the digital barrier in music.

  • Sig’s Lagoon – Browse the Mid-Main record store and find everything from funky records and underground hits to more mainstream jams. Monday to Wednesday, 11am to 9pm; Thursday to Saturday, 11am to 10pm; Sunday, 11am to 6pm. Map it.
  • Heights Vinyl – Heights vinyl gets regular shipments of some of music’s legendary performers including Johnny Cash, Louis Armstrong, and Bruce Springsteen. The store also sells turntables as well as offering repair for equipment. Monday to Thursday, 11am to 8pm; Friday and Saturday, 11am to 10pm; Sunday, Noon to 6pm. Map it.
  • Vinal Edge – There isn’t anything this shop doesn’t carry. Metalheads and jazz snappers can mingle next to each other while picking through stacks on stacks on stacks! Monday to Saturday, 10am to 7pm; Sunday, Noon to 6pm. Map it.
  • Cactus Music – The Upper Kirby/Montrose record shop hosts mini-concerts while touting an extensive collection of vinyl. Monday to Saturday, 10am to 9pm; Sunday, Noon to 7pm. Map it.
  • Black Dog Records – Go for some old school hits, re-issues, and newer records, but stay for stories from owner Cliff Dotterer’s stories about days of music past. Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 6pm. Map it.
