Witness one of the world’s oldest forms of theater during Noh Unmasked at Asia Society Texas Center on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 7pm.

Dr. Kevin Salfen’s presentation, Noh Unmasked, will bring Japanese tradition alive and offer a deep look at this impeccable blend of storytelling, costumes, music and dancing.

His presentation brings to life the Traditions Transfigured: The Noh Masks of Bidou Yamaguchi exhibition currently showing at Asia Society Texas Center (free to visit throughout all of December), and will surely entertain all who attend.

Originating from the Sino-Japanese word for talent, Noh is a form of Japanese musical drama that incorporates literature, music, dance, costumes and props. It requires a cast of extremely skilled performers.

Presenter Dr. Salfen holds a Ph.D. in Musicology and has conducted extensive research in the area of Japanese Noh theater. While continuing to be an active composer, he serves as Secretary of the international troupe Theatre Nohgaku and Southwest Chapter Representative to the American Musicological Society.
