Catch a world premier of two new scores to classic tales as Houston’s boundary-pushing musical group Musiqa performs Myths & Legends at the Hobby Center on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 7:30pm.
Offering an intriguing thematic blend of fairy tale and war-related pathos, the adventurous music group Musiqa’s latest show, Myths & Legends, features two world premieres.
Company member Karim Al-Zand presents a new score for the 1922 silent film Cinderella, played in tandem with a screening of the movie, followed by Anthony Brandt’s new opera Ulysses, Home that deals with post-traumatic distress syndrome. All this and performances of the masterful modern composer Pierre Jalbert’s fourth string quartet, plus a work by Australian composer Elena Kats-Chernin, promises that Myths & Legends will be an exciting concert at Houston’s Hobby Center for the Performing Arts.
