Supporting local farmers never tasted so good.

Local Foods has two Houston locations offering sandwiches, salads and meals, prepared with local ingredients. The menu changes to feature what is available now.

The restaurants are a wonderful combination of sleet modern and reclaimed chic. There are tile walls, exposed pipes, old time diner chairs and antique cabinets.

You order at the counter and take your seats. Prices are reasonable and everyone is welcome at this casual restaurant. Kids can order from the menu or ask for a peanut butter and jelly or grilled cheese.

Perhaps the luckiest patrons are the Vegetarians that are tired of the boring old veggie burgers and sauteed veggie sandwiches. When on the menu, the Garden Sammie is the best vegetable sandwich around. It comes with Brussels sprouts, avocado, hummus, oven dried tomato, sprouts and ciabatta.

Meat eaters don’t suffer either, with corned beef, gulf shrimp, crunch chicken and many more options.

It’s all good.
