This is a big month for big talent and big stories. I feel like that’s fitting since it’s my birth month—ha! And while we can make an argument that every month offers big talent and stories in our performing arts community, this month just feels like a lot of people are pushing boundaries and upping their games.
The Alley has a killer cast in an iconic play, and I cannot wait to see them bring it to life on stage. A.D. Players has a world premiere musical about a man who risks his life to share the word of God. Catastrophic shares a timely play about identity and culture. Cone Man Running and Boiling Point Players team up for a new, decidedly Houston twist on an Oscar Wilde classic.
On the music side, DaCamera celebrates jazz saxophonist John Coltrane’s centennial. Houston Grand Opera brings an acclaimed production of a dazzling choral masterpiece to the U.S for the first time. An acclaimed a capella ensemble comes to Galveston. Chamber Music Houston salutes the city’s medical community.
The Houston Ballet’s incredible Academy students showcase their talent. And the Ballet partners with Asia Society Texas for an intimate, soulful performance.
