Celebrate literacy with dollar books, free museum exhibits, & more at Kids’ Book Fest at The Health Museum

Turn the page and dive into a good book at Kids’ Book Fest at The Health Museum on Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11, 2016.

Browse more than 30,000 books, CDs, DVDs, and audiobooks all priced $3 or less while taking part in free museum exhibits, fun activities, raffles, storytelling and more at this kid, family, and kid-at-heart friendly book fest in the Museum District.

Presented by Friends of the Houston Public Library, Kids’ Book Fest is a first-of-its-kind volunteer-powered book sale by the Houston community for the Houston community.

Visitors of this free-to-attend celebration at The Health Museum can expand their imaginations and knowledge with an array of affordable board books, graphic novels and manga, cookbooks, kids fiction and nonfiction, hobbies and how-to books, young adult fiction and nonfiction, comics and more throughout Saturday and Sunday.

Featured Friends & Activities

In addition to the overwhelming selection of books and more, attendees can get their play and creativity on with balloon art and face painting by artist Amy Aderhold, an iWrite writing activity and raffle, a storybook costume contest, tasty bites from Texas Tamale Company, storytelling by SunBee Circle, literary resources from the Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation, 8-bit fun playing Minecraft on the HPL Mobile Express, a lesson in Dr. Seuss hat making and so much more.
