It’s time to pony up for a good time as the Kentucky Derby returns in early May for the 152nd race, bringing with it a slate of events at local bars and restaurants that will have you sipping mint juleps, gathering among some of the most elegant hats you’ve seen, and toasting to 2 minutes of horse race madness.

2026 Kentucky Derby Day Parties in Houston

Derby Fest at Sam Houston Race Park – Enjoy a Derby celebration filled with food trucks, a rosé wine garden, and a market complemented by jumbo screens to catch every moment of the race action at H-Town’s own race park showgrounds. $10. 9:30am to 7pm. Get tickets.

Kentucky Derby Hat Party at Brasserie 19 – Break out the big hats and your boldest bets as the River Oaks destination French restaurant hosts a Derby brunch with mint juleps, Champagne, and a best hat competition. Reservations recommended. 11am to 7pm. Reserve.
