Learn about ways to raise awareness and improve the lives of men, women, and children battling HIV/AIDS with AIDS Foundation Houston.
As a national leader in HIV/STD programming, AIDS Foundation Houston focuses on prevention, education, and increasing the quality of life for those living with HIV/AIDS. Founded in 1982, it was the first service organization of its kind and has since provided education to more than 90,000 Texans.
With more than 27,000 people living with HIV in Harris County alone, the organization hopes to stop the spread of new infections through educational outreach and free testing opportunities. The prison initiative, focus on youth, community mobilization and lifeguard programs aim to provide life-saving information to high-risk communities.
Volunteer or Donate
In addition to raising awareness, AFH provides housing, medical assistance, and other forms of support to HIV+ men, women, and children. These programs are largely dependent on donations and the support of volunteers.
Volunteers are needed for Stone Soup, Camp HOPE and other special events throughout the year. Check out the opportunities to get involved below. Click here for information on how to get involved with AIDS Foundation Houston or volunteer. Click here for information on how to donate.

Get Involved
- Stone Soup – Many HIV+ people struggle to obtain the necessary nutrients to sustain a healthy lifestyle. Stone Soup provides healthy meal options for HIV+ individuals and their families.
- Camp Hope – Learning the skills needed to manage life with HIV/AIDS is very challenging, especially for children. Camp Hope creates a safe environment where kids aged 7 to 16 can learn, play, and develop friendships with peers.
- AIDS Walk Houston – For more than 25 years, thousands of Houstonians have come together to walk 1.8 miles to raise awareness in the fight against AIDS. Volunteers are needed at the walk itself, which has been in Downtown Houston the past several years. Other involvement opportunities include a kick-off party, captain training sessions or registering for the walk. Participants can register as individuals or as a team and while there is no required registration fee, fundraising is encouraged.
- Dining Out For Life – Since 1991, local restaurants have donated a portion of their proceeds to AIDS Foundation Houston at this one-night event. In 2016, more than 40 Houston restaurants participated at the event.
