Take in highly physical, visually stunning, and emotionally resonant dance program when Ishida Dance presents Rara avis at Asia Society Texas Center from Thursday, January 15 to Sunday, January 18, 2026.

Nationally recognized in Dance Magazine’s “25 to Watch”, Houston-based company’s newest production showcases a performance that follows a singer, struggling with imposter syndrome, as she returns to stage after taking a hiatus.

The program also includes Mutual Comfort by world renowned Romanian choreographer Edward Clug and a new dance theater work by award-winning Finnish choreographer Kristian Lever.

Pulitzer prize-winning dance critic Sarah L Kaufman has described Ishida’s work as “deeply poignant” and “remarkable”.

Ishida Dance will also perform Rara avis in Austin the following week on Friday, January 23, 2026.
