See the latest performing arts productions and theater happenings opening across Houston from Monday, September 8 to Sunday, September 14, 2025.
This week brings a variety of performing arts. Dance Source Houston offers the latest in its Mind the Gap series. The Houston Symphony performs at both the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and Miller Outdoor Theatre. Lionwoman Productions is back with a new show about a man on the spectrum and a woman who questions her life choices.
I’m super excited that Lea Salonga is in concert on the Miller Outdoor Theatre Stage, because I’ve loved her since seeing her in the original Broadway production of Miss Saigon. I’m also excited for Main Street Theater’s season opener; I couldn’t get to New York to see the show when it was revived on Broadway in 2023, so I’m stoked I get to see it locally. Also? Happy 50th anniversary, Main Street Theater!
I’m calling out Houston Grand Opera’s Butler Studio Showcase. If you’ve not been to one of these shows, they’re a treat. Think bite-sized opera arias and scenes, performed by incredible artists at the beginning of their careers. They’re terrific for opera lovers and newbies, alike.
I missed Lionwoman Productions inaugural show last year, and was crushed because theater people I love and arts writers I respect all had great things to say. So, their latest is a firm date on my calendar this year. I can’t wait to see it.
There’s also a performance by Ukrainian Music Theatre, while Theatre Southwest presents an important Arthur Miller play.
Go see performing arts, Houston!
