Dance Source Houston: Mind the Gap XXXIII at MATCH | Tuesday – Back for its 33rd installment, the show features a range of dance forms including Bharatanatyam, contemporary, and heels, all created by local choreographers. Pay-What-You-Can. 7:30pm.
Houston Symphony: Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in Concert at Jones Hall | Friday & Saturday – See the epic Star Wars film that finds the rebels regrouping on the ice planet Hoth before setting off across the galaxy to fight the evil Empire. The orchestra plays John William’s majestic score live during the film. $53 and up. Showtimes vary.
Uptown Dance Company: Spring is in the Air at MATCH | Friday & Saturday – The company continues the celebration of its 25th Anniversary with new premieres from Houston Ballet principal dancer Karina Gonzalez, choreographer and educator Pattie Obey, and Houston Ballet former principal dancer Krissy Richmond in an evening of mixed rep. $35. 4th Wall Theatre Co: Topdog/Underdog at Studio 101 in Spring Street Studios | Thursday to Sunday | Ongoing – In a darkly comic fable of brotherly love and family identity, Lincoln and Booth—two brothers names as an offhand joke—confront their rivalry and resentment while confronting the future reality. $22 and up. Dirt Dogs Theatre Co: Blackbird at MATCH | Opens Friday | Ongoing – When Una shows up at Ray’s new office unannounced, guilt, rage, and raw emotions run high as they reexamine the relationship they had 15 years ago, as Una tries to reconcile the brutal truth of this abusive attachment. $30. Mr. Pim Passes By at Theatre Southwest | Opens Friday | Ongoing – Mr. Pim may only be passing through a small town, but his presence there is about to have a big impact. Can it be that 2 people a couple isn’t actually what they thought they were? A.A. Milne’s play first premiered in 1919, and those who only know Milne as the author of Winnie the Pooh’s adventures would do well to check this out. $22. Showtimes vary.
The Glass Menagerie at Alley Theatre | Opens Friday | Ongoing – Tennessee Williams’ moving play follows the fortunes of an American family facing dreams and delusions. Mother Amanda longs for a better life for her children, Laura and Tom. But can she understand how her dreams for them push them further away? One of the classic plays of American theater, this play explores human connection. $49 and up. Showtimes vary.
Houston Chamber Choir: Love Songs & Sonnets at South Main Baptist Church | Saturday – Go on a romantic journey with this selection of songs dating from the Renaissance and the Romantic period. I’ve long loved the choir’s incredible vocal technique and artistry. $10 and up. 7:30pm.

The Trip to Bountiful closes at Unity Theatre on Sunday. That’s also when A.D. Players’ The Foreigner bows out of the George, Camp Logan closes at The Ensemble, and Stages’ The Heart Sellers leaves the Gordy.
