- Houston Grand Opera presents The Butler Studio Showcase at Wortham Center | Thursday, September 14 – An opportunity to hear tomorrow’s opera stars today, this concert features soloists from HGO’s renowned Butler Studio young artist development program, singing selections from Eugene Onegin, The Turn of the Screw, La favorite, Die Fledermaus, Susannah, Béatrice et Bénédict and Madame Butterfly. $20. 7pm.
- Houston Symphony presents Blast Off to Space at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion | Thursday, September 14 – The Symphony visits the Woodlands with an evening of action-packed music that includes works from space films like Star Wars and E.T., as well as Holst’s The Planets, and more. $25 and up. 7:30pm.
- Pop Demo at MATCH | Friday, September 15 | Ongoing – Set in the stylistic decor of Pop Art, this production blends political commentary, offbeat theatre, aerial, contemporary dance and visuals to explore how the ideas of popular democracy, extremism and propaganda have shaped and warped American beliefs. This production runs through Saturday, September 23. $35 and up. Showtimes vary.
- A Doll’s House Part 2 at Theatre Southwest | Friday, September 15 | Ongoing – The community theater on Westheimer Road opens its 67th season with this sequel to Ibsen’s groundbreaking play. Fifteen years after leaving her family, Nora returns home with a request. What does her return mean for herself and for those she left behind? This production runs through Saturday, September 30. $22. Showtimes vary.
- Four Old Broads on the High Seas at Strand Theater in Galveston | Friday, September 15 | Ongoing – Four “old broads” hit the high seas on a Sassy Seniors Cruise, looking for a little adventure. They find a murder mystery, a drag queen and a whole lot more. This production runs through Saturday, October 7. Recommended for ages 12 and up. $35. Showtimes vary.
- Dance | Hunger | Action at MATCH | Saturday, September 16 – These performances from Social Movement Contemporary Dance Theater capture the vibrant diversity of the city and draw awareness to the Houston Food Bank and the work it does on behalf of our community. $25. 2:30pm and 7:30pm.
- Performing Arts Houston presents MOMIX: Alice at Jones Hall | Saturday, September 16 & Sunday, September 17 – This new dance work inspired by Alice in Wonderland blends MOMIX’s creativity with dazzling visuals, taking audiences on an unexpected journey through a beloved story. $39 and up. Saturday 7:30pm; Sunday 2pm.
- What the Constitution Means to Me at Main Street Theater | Saturday, September 16 | Ongoing – This regional premiere tells the story of 15-year-old Heidi, who earned scholarship money for college by taking part in Constitutional debate competitions. As Heidi looks back on her experiences, she considers what one of our most important founding documents means for our history and our future. This production runs through Sunday, October 15. $39 and up. Showtimes vary.

Classical Theatre Company’s production of Medea closes at the DeLuxe Theater on Saturday, September 16; and you can catch the last shows of Houston Ballet’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and On the Verge Theatre’s Far East on Sunday, September 17.
