Top Performing Arts Openings This Week: July 22 to 28, 2024
- Lindsey Stirling in Concert at Smart Financial Centre | Friday, July 26 – The virtuoso violinist and dancing sensation comes to Sugar Land as part of her Duality tour. Expect an energetic performance that blends pop and classical orchestrations, along with Stirling’s signature moves. $63 and up. 7pm.
- Houston Symphony presents Batman at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion | Friday, July 26 | FREE – Celebrating 85 years of the caped crusader, the Symphony performs Danny Elfman’s score to the 1989 Batman movie starring Michael Keaton, while the film plays on a giant screen. Dressing up as your favorite DC Comics character is encouraged. 8pm.
- Next to Normal at Hobby Center | Friday, July 26 to Sunday, July 28 – This deeply moving musical with a pulsing pop score explores how one household copes with mental illness and a mother battling bi-polar disorder. Winner of three Tony Awards, it’s a powerful show about life and love. Recommended for ages 13 and older. $32.50 and up. Showtimes vary.
- Festival of Originals at Theatre Southwest | Friday, July 26 | Ongoing – Experience five original short shows from five different directors with five different casts in one great night of theater. This production is ongoing through Saturday, August 10. $22. 8pm.
Final Performances This Week
This week, two productions draw final curtains on Sunday, July 28; Gilbert & Sullivan Society’s Ruddigore on the UH campus, and Main Street Theater’s Fancy Nancy at MATCH.
