Dine among the aquatic life, try your hand at the carnival games, and enjoy the breathtaking view of the Houston skyline from the Ferris Wheel all at the Houston Downtown Aquarium.
Exhibits open Sunday thru Thursday from 10am to 9pm and Friday and Saturday until 11pm. Restaurant opens at 11am every day. The Houston Downtown Aquarium also offers a number of summer camps and overnight adventures for a wide range of ages.
Houston Downtown Aquarium Activites
Show off your skills at the carnival-inspired games just outside the aquarium and win a myriad of prizes from shooting hoops or tossing rings. If you’re feeling extra adventurous you can feel your stomach drop from the plunge off the Lighthouse Dive or the 100-foot Ferris Wheel. You can cool of in the misting station in between games and rides if it’s warm outside.
Meals at the Houston Downtown Aquarium
Once you’ve won your big prize, head inside for a meal with a view. Munch on burgers, pizza, salads, and sea food prepared a variety of ways while watching the sea life in the 150,000 gallon tank. Kids meals start at $6 and the restaurant offers a happy hour Monday to Friday from 3pm until 7pm with $3 snacks and deals on drinks.
Camps and Extracurricular Programs
It’s not all fun and games at the Houston Downtown Aquarium. Sign up for a summer camp and get schooled on the marine and animal life. Camp offerings are most appropriate for ages 6 to 12 but there is also a Mommy and Me lunch for those 2pm to 5pm. Spend all day at the aquarium and still thirsty for more? Stay the night with the tigers in the Wild Dreams Overnight. Register for each camp in advance.
Parking Options
Parking in the pay lot behind the building starts at $7 and they offer valet for an additional charge. They accept cash and credit. You can bring strollers, but be aware that they are not allowed in the exhibits or ride lines. There is not a stroller parking area. Leave your food, water bottles, and snacks at home.
