Take an educational glimpse at the history of cycling with a niche collection of antique and classic bicycles at the Houston Bicycle Museum.
Located in the heart of the Museum District at the intersection of Binz and Caroline Street, this quaint museum covers the spectrum of cycling from its infancy in the mid-1850’s and chronicles its evolution to the more sophisticated machines we see today.
Still in its formative stage and housed in a temporary location, the small facility is quick to take in as you wander from room to room with bicycle displays from different historical periods, tributes to famous cyclists, and varying makes/models of bicycles such as recumbent bikes, tandems, touring bikes and more.
If you’re a cycling fan or just interested in learning more, this is a great place to stop in and see how the bicycle has progressed with time/technology and how cycling has forever changed our society, transportation, and leisure activities.
Packed with History
For such a small space the museum really packs it in with nearly a hundred cycles on display, interesting tidbits about their wide-ranging collection, and even an informative docent on hand.
If you’re looking for an add-on to your afternoon, it only takes about 30 minutes to see and read your way around the entire space.

First Saturday Market at the Houston Bicycle Museum
Open every first Saturday of the month from 10am to 4pm, visitors can enjoy a free-to-attend outdoor market out front of the museum facing Binz Street.
Shop local vendors and artisans for bikes, artwork, food, jewelry, handmade goods
and more with free street parking available on the weekends and lot parking available for $5.
