Enjoy an enriching evening of dance performances, poetry, and music, benefitting victims of Hurricane Harvey with Houston Artists Strong at MECA on Thursday, September 14, 2017.

Join Bayou City Poetry Grand Slam and MECA (Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts) for an evening of Hurricane Harvey fundraising, where 100% of the proceeds will be donated directly to affected families.

In the wake of Hurricane Harvey aftermath, MECA, WAN (Write About Now), Straight Up Growth, Gossiping Heifers, Toiletries for Families, and Hiawatha Henry have come together for one entertaining evening of poetry, dance, and music, all in the name of helping the Greater Houston Area.

Guests can expect two nationally recognized poets from Dallas, Rage The Almighty and Sherrie Zantea (Candy), Houston’s very own WAN Slam Team giving it their poetic power on stage, plenty of dancing, and a live DJ.

Located near the Washington Avenue Arts District, MECA has served Houston’s First Ward, Sixth Ward, Near Northside, and Heights Districts since 1977 providing a variety of arts education opportunities, community performances, public art, and cultural celebrations.
