Enjoy Wednesday evening beers and learn how to play bocce, the world’s oldest drinking game, at Major League Bocce’s free fall kickoff party and demonstration at Cottonwood on Wednesday, September 16, 2015.
With the fall weather beginning to show it’s face, Major League Bocce returns launch its autumn season with a special event at Cottonwood.
Returning members and players will be on hand to show you how to roll and to answer questions about the program, including how all teams make the play-offs, what drink specials players benefit from and how to leverage ball-jokes to make new friends.
Come anytime between 7pm and 8:30pm to join the fun.
Major League Bocce Fall Season 2015
Major League Bocce Houston’s fall season features six weekly matches in one of two leagues. Tuesday night leagues will play at Brooklyn Athletic Club in Midtown and Wednesday night leagues will play at Cottonwood in Oak Forest.
The Brooklyn Athletic Club league will from Tuesday, September 22 through Tuesday, November 10.
On Wednesdays, Cottonwood will host the second league, beginning on Wednesday, September 30 and ending Wednesday, November 18.
As the play happens inside the bars, all players must be 21 old by the first day of play at the respective location.
The Game of Bocce – Old and New
Once associated with older Italian gents, the game of bocce has been revitalized. Casual yet competitive, it makes for a great social sport for a number of reasons: men and women are on equal footing, age is not an issue, and no prerequisite athletic ability is required. If you can roll a ball, you can play.
Games last 45 minutes and are played to 14 points. Before, during and following games, league members are invited to enjoy beer and food specials.
