Immerse yourself in the best of the Gulf Coast at the 15th Annual Galveston Shrimp Festival

Take in the great fall weather while noshing on fresh shrimp, grooving to live music, shopping, people watching and more during the Galveston Island Shrimp Festival weekend on Friday, September 27 & Saturday, September 28, 2024.

Yaga’s Entertainment kicks off the island’s fall festival season with the 15th edition of the Galveston Island Shrimp Festival weekend.

Featuring some of the best shrimp gumbo the Gulf Coast has to offer, the festival features a seafood cook-off, gumbo tasting, L’il Shrimps Parade, live music, a children’s area and a Strand merchant walkabout, the Ron Hoover Boat Show, and more.

The main event is Saturday’s Shrimp Gumbo Cook-Off and Gumbo Stroll on the island’s Historic Strand, but there’s also an official Friday Kick-Off Party in Saengerfest Park the night before, and a Shrimp Scamper 5K Fun Run along the Seawall on the morning of the event.

Galveston Island Shrimp Festival 2024 in Historic Downtown Galveston

  • Friday Kick-Off Party at Saengerfest Park | Friday, September 27 – The lively VIP party with capacity for 800 is a beloved start-of-fall island tradition, marking the start of the Galveston Island Shrimp Festival weekend. Frequently selling out all tickets, the event offers guests a Texas-sized fried shrimp dinner, free-flowing libations, and live music by George Murphy Band. $65 includes food, drinks and entertainment. 7:30pm to 10pm.
  • Shrimp Scamper 5K Fun Run on the Seawall | Saturday, September 28 – All ages and skill levels are welcome at this morning run, starting at Beerfoot Beach Bar and running along Seawall Boulevard and back. Costumes and teams are encouraged, and the beer flows—for ages 21+—after the run. 8am to 10:30am.
  • Shrimp Gumbo Cook-Off & Gumbo Stroll | Saturday, September 28 | No Cover – The weekend’s main event showcases the best that the Gulf Coast has to offer, including a seafood cook-off, gumbo tasting, L’il Shrimps Parade, live music, a children’s zone, a Strand merchant walkabout, the Ron Hoover Boat Show, and more. Shrimp sampling cups for the Gumbo Stroll can be ordered in advance for $13; $20 for a shrimp dinner plate. 10am to 4pm
