  • Summer Camps for Kids in Greater Houston | Ongoing – From theater and the arts to creative writing and outer space, there are camps to spark every child’s interests, still happening throughout the summer.   • Disney’s Newsies at Hobby Center | Through Sunday, June 2  Bring the kiddos to experience the extraordinary Tony Award–winning musical in a brand new production by Theatre Under The Stars. The underdogs-to-heroes tale will entertain and inspire, with high-energy song and dance. $40 and up. Showtimes vary.
  • Houston Grand Opera presents Storybook Opera at Levy Park | Saturdays, June 1 & June 15 | FREE – Held at Levy Park’s event pavilion, singers from the HGO will present an engaging storytime to introduce opera to students Pre-K through Grade 2. Enjoy Opera Book (June 1) and Opera Cat (June 15). 11am.
  • Mr. Leo: Puppet & Magic Show at Children’s Museum of Houston | Monday, June 3 & Friday, June 28 The Children’s Museum of Houston invites kids to join Mr. Leo for an infant and toddler-friendly, whimsical and interactive show dedicated to the magic of puppets and marionettes. $19.95; included with museum admission and held in the Celebrations Room in the Kids’ Hall Alcove. 3pm to 4pm.
  • Frida’s Fiesta at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Tuesday, June 4 | FREE Express Children’s Theatre presents a bilingual, interactive adventure inspired by Russian folktales, the Baba Yaga stories, featuring a shy young girl finding the courage to outwit an evil witch who’s turned the girl’s mother into a tree. 11am.
  • Friday Night Fireworks at Kemah Boardwalk | Fridays, June 7 to July 26 Kicking off the summer season on Friday, June 7, families can head to Kemah Boardwalk for a dazzling fireworks show over Galveston Bay every Friday in June and July. The show is free to watch, with tickets to the Boardwalk Beast Fireworks Cruise available for $40 at the ticket booth (boarding begins at 9pm). 9:30pm.
  • World Ocean Day Festival at East Beach | Saturday, June 8 Spend the day discovering, learning and experiencing how to be a part of the solution to keep pollution out of the ocean. Enjoy hands-on activities on the beach, along with art workshops, Bucket Brigade tours, and live entertainment. 11am to 4:30pm.   
  • Galveston Family Beach Challenge at Stewart Beach | Sunday, June 9 | FREE Get ready for friendly competition at this free family fun day on the island. Featuring 14 stations designed for anyone over the age of 8 to participate, the beachside course will see families competing to win up to $2,000 in prizes. 11am.
  • Summer Species: Flutter Fling at Buffalo Bayou Park’s Lost Lake | Saturday, June 15 | FREE – This summer butterfly extravaganza offers a day of butterfly-themed crafts, a June Butterfly Walk and a Pollinator Parade from Lost Lake to Jackson Hill Bridge. 9am to 11:30am.
  • Children’s Storytime at Midtown Park | Saturday, June 15 | FREE Summer brings this free, family-friendly Children’s Storytime programming, featuring a story reading, book giveaways and fun activities every third Saturday in June, July, and August. 10:30am.
  • Juneteenth at Emancipation Park | Saturday, June 15 | FREE Joy, unity and cultural pride will be on display as Emancipation Park welcomes all to join in its annual Juneteenth celebration, commemorating the final enforcement of the Emancipation Proclamation in Texas. The fun kicks off with the 2nd Annual Freedom Walk/Run from 7am to 11am, followed by the day’s festivities and concerts beginning at 4pm (the crowd typically starts gathering around 3pm). Expect a night of good music, good food, good people and great vibes. 4pm to 9pm. 
  • Tokyo X Festival at NRG Center | Saturday, June 15 & Sunday, June 15 – The largest Japanese festival in Houston, the two-day Tokyo X Festival takes a dive deep into Japanese culture with an array of attractions, including street foods prepared by local Houston chefs, night markets, a car showcase, anime, cosplay, music, live performances, and more. Saturday $40; Sunday $35. Times vary.
  • Jack & the Bean Stalk: The Remix at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Tuesday, June 18 | FREE Ensemble Theatre invites families to enjoy a new, upbeat riff on Jack & the Beanstalk, telling the story of a young boy who dreams of being a hip-hop superstar and learning the power of believing in himself. 11am.
  • Bugs Bunny at the Symphony at Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion | Tuesday, June 18 | FREE – The Houston Symphony puts on this free show for all ages, playing classic scores as your favorite iconic Looney Tunes characters bring the laughs and fun on the big screen. 8pm.
  • ImagineNation Kid Expo at Katy Merrell Center | Saturday, June 22 & Sunday, June 23 – This two-day kid expo in Katy offers the chance to meet TV show and video game characters, meet-and-greets with the creatives behind popular series, interactive activities, face painting and balloon artists, crafts, a vendor marketplace, puppet and magic shows, and much more. $10, valid for both days. Free for ages 3 and under. 10am to 6pm.
  • Houston Museum of Natural Science at Levy Park | Sunday, June 30 | FREE  Museum experts from the Houston Museum of Natural Science will be over at the Greenway area park for a kid-friendly learning opportunity. Youngins can explore real artifacts from the museum collection in an educational atmosphere, with this month’s theme being “Dinosaur Discovery.” 2pm.
