Discovery Green’s winter season kicks off with the annual family-friendly event, Frostival, with live music, wintery events, the opening of The ICE rink, and live ice carving.
The 7,716 square-foot outdoor skating rink “The ICE”, opens at 11am and will be available for skating until 11pm.
Entertainment & Interactives at Frostival
Frostival festivities begin at 6pm, and Reverend Butter will be the main attraction, using his chainsaw to carve ice sculptures right before your eyes.
DJ Caps will be spinning and Bastrop-based blues/soul/funk band The Peterson Brothers will perform on stage.
Visitors can peruse a variety of interactive ice sculptures throughout the park, and adults of age can take advantage of the beer garden and ice bar.
Hello, Trees! A Walking Serenade
The winter season also brings the debut of Discovery Green’s new temporary public art installation Hello, Trees! A Walking Serenade.
Guests are invited to check out the site-specific work, which transforms voice messages into light and sound that travel through the arches of the sculpture.
Give to the Park, Get a Frozen Beer Mug
Guests who make a $20 donation to the Discovery Green Conservancy – online or at the event – will receive a hand-carved stein made of ice and filled with your choice of craft beer or root beer from Saint Arnold.

About Discovery Green
Discovery Green is a highly acclaimed 12-acre park created by a public-private partnership between the City of Houston and the non-profit Discovery Green Conservancy in Downtown. Since opening in April 2008, the park has welcomed more than 12 million visitors.
