- Texas Family Literacy Festival at Discovery Green | Saturday, October 14 | FREE – Story Square hosts this first-ever fest in Downtown, inviting new and experienced readers to visit with family and discover the wonder of literacy. Meet authors, enjoy stories, food, prizes and games, and take home a free book. 10:30am to 6:30pm.
- Bark in the Park at Town Center Park | Saturday, October 14 | FREE – This annual event in Kingwood features a pet costume contest, engaging talks and an art competition, all focused on family pets and rescue groups. 11am to 6pm.
- 2023 Annular Solar Eclipse Viewing Party at Levy Park | Saturday, October 14 | FREE – Join scientists and educators from the Lunar and Planetary Institute for a fun and educational viewing party of the annular solar eclipse at the Greenway park. Enjoy music from DJ DelSur and a lunar-themed craft for kids of all ages. 11am to 2:15pm.
- Community Altar Workshop at Holocaust Museum Houston | Saturday, October 14 | FREE – This third annual workshop sees participants gathering to explore the meaning and significance of Día de los Muertos through craft making and working together to build an altar. 2pm to 4pm.
- 2023 Wings Over Houston Airshow at Ellington Field | Saturday, October 14 & Sunday, October 15 – One of the top airshows in the nation, Wings Over Houston showcases vintage World War II aircraft and modern aviation with soaring spectacles, reenactments, and high-flying aerobatics. This year will feature an appearance by the USAF Thunderbirds along with simulator rides, a kid’s carnival, merchandise and autograph booths. - Pumpkin Patch Fall Festival at Nature Discovery Center | Saturday, October 14 & Sunday, October 15 | FREE – This two-day festival for the whole family offers as day of games, crafts and fun activities, plus food, photo ops, animal ambassadors and plenty of pumpkins. 11am to 4pm.
- Galveston Greek Festival at Assumption of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church | Saturday, October 14 & Sunday, October 15 | FREE – Galveston’s Greek fest returns with two days of Greek food, drinks, pastries, souvenirs, and more.
