Top 15 Family Things To Do in Houston This Week

  • 2023 Culture Camp for Kids: Manga Pop at Asia Society Texas Center | Monday, July 10 to Friday, July 14 – All skill levels are welcome at this week-long kids camp at Asia Society where campers will learn to create their own comics inspired by the Japanese manga style. Recommended for ages 9 to 14. $375. 9am to 3pm daily.
  • Pop Up Park at Little Cedar Bayou Park | Tuesday, July 11 | FREE – Bring the kiddos to Little Cedar Bayou Park in La Porte for two hours of gaga ball, popcorn, sidewalk chalk, bubbles, giveaways, and more. 9am to 11am.
  • Discovery Days: A Habitat is a Home at Houston Arboretum & Nature Center | Tuesday, July 11 – The Discovery Days series features outdoor explorations, private visits to the Discovery Room, adventure play on the Nature Playscape and the opportunity to meet one of the Ambassador Animals. $15. 9:30am to 11:30am.
  • The Bee Lady at the Woodlands Children’s Museum | Wednesday, July 12 – Learn about bees while safely meeting a few in person when the Bee Lady comes to visit the Woodlands museum. $8. 11am.
  • Houston Texans 713 Day at Post Houston | Thursday, July 13 | FREE – The Texans celebrate all things Houston with an all-ages 713 Day bash at Post, featuring appearances by Texans celebrities, Toro the mascot, games, giveaways, music and more. 5pm to 8pm.
  • Up Movie Screening at the Woodlands Mall | Thursday, July 13 | FREE – Catch a free outdoor screening of the beloved Pixar film, Up (2009, PG). Carl Fredricksen is looking to live out his dream after the love of his life passes by moving to Paradise Falls, but a care free wilderness explorer accidentally finds himself along for the adventure. 7pm.
  • Bastille Day at Rice Stadium | Friday, July 14 – The French American Chamber of Commerce hosts this celebration of France’s national holiday. There will be rosé tastings for adults, plus food vendors, music performances, and an array of sporting events in a nod to the 2024 Paris Olympics. $15 for adults; free for ages 12 and under. 6pm to 10pm.
  • Celebrate Miller: An Evening Of Imagination! at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Friday, July 14 & Saturday, July 15 | FREE – Bring the family for an evening of imagination and performance with interactive puppet shows, magicians, a collaborative mural and more—including photo ops with a larger-than-life birthday cake. Plus, stick around on both nights for a special Theatre Under the Stars program celebrating Houston with the iconic sounds of Broadway. 6:30pm; TUTS concert starts at 8:30pm.
  • 10th Annual Ohana Surf Dog Competition in Galveston | Saturday, July 15 | FREE – This 10th edition returns to 27th and Seawall, where dogs compete on surf boards, and awards are given based on ride length, technique, confidence, and any tricks performed. Proceeds help support the mission of Galveston Island Humane Society. Free to watch; $25 to register a dog. 8am to noon.
  • 15th Anniversary Celebration at Pearland Town Center | Saturday, July 15 | FREE – The shopping and dining destination in Pearland turns 15 and everyone is invited to celebrate with a full day of family-friendly fun, games and discounts. Take in appearances by popular characters, have fun at a story time and bubble party, learn to play Pokémon, and more. 10am to 4pm.
  • Summer Jam 2023 at Moody Center for the Arts | Saturday, July 15 | FREE – The Rice University arts gallery is transformed for Summer Jam, offering an indoor farmers market, hot food vendors, art activities, face painters, the Texas Bubblers and gallery tours. Free; $6 for parking. Noon to 5pm.
  • Toy Story Movie Screening at Oscar Johnson Jr Community Center | Saturday, July 15 – Bring your noodle and relax in this Conroe community pool for a screening of the 1995 classic, Toy Story. $5. 7pm.
  • Possums & Popsicles at Houston Arboretum & Nature Center | Saturday, July 15 – Grab a frozen treat, enjoy a refreshing Saint Arnold’s root beer, and get up close and personal with live wild animals from Texas Wildlife Rehabilitation Coalition. $50; $20 for ages 5 to 12. 7pm to 9pm.
  • Wall-E Movie Screening at Redemption Square | Saturday, July 15 | FREE – Bring the family out to Northeast Houston for a screening of Disney Pixar’s 2008 movie, Wall-E. The last robot on Earth meets a visitor named EVE, and together they set out for an adventure across the galaxy. 8pm.
  • I Scream for Ice Cream at Children’s Museum Houston | Sunday, July 16 – Celebrate National Ice Cream Day by learning how to make your own tasty, frozen treat out of coffee creamer. Stick around to catch an original Children’s Museum Houston play when Power Up: The Musical performs in the afternoon. $17. Noon to 6pm.
