Let your inner film buff roam free with 10 days of 200 screenings, award ceremonies, galas and more at the 50th annual WorldFest-Houston, happening at AMC Studio 30 Dunvale now through Sunday, April 30, 2017.

Founded in 1961, WorldFest-Houston has emerged as the longest-running independent film festival in the world, continuously celebrating artists for 50 years and even furthering the industry by offering master classes, workshops, and seminars.

With more than 1,000 directors attending from 74 nations, dedicated indie film fans can discover rising cinematic talents of tomorrow as WorldFest presents top winners in Indie Short and Feature Films.

The 50th WorldFest will open the 10-day celebration with the premiere of LBJ. The film’s legendary director, Rob Reiner, will be on hand at the premiere with his wife, where he will receive the WorldFest Career Achievement Award.

Emerging Talents Past & Present

Over the course of its rich, 50-year history, WorldFest has awarded top honors to many industry greats before they were famous, including Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, The Coen Brothers, Ridley Scott, Robert Rodriguez, Gavin Hood, John Lee Hancock, Michael Cimino, Brian de Palma, Oliver Stone, Ang Lee, Atom Egoyan, David Lynch, and more.

This year will feature the twelfth annual Panorama Italia, with six new titles by Italian Indie filmmakers, and the third annual Chinese Panorama, that features emerging talents from Beijing and Shanghai.

WorldFest continues with its annual Short Film Showcase, with its special review of 117 new short films and student films.

Screenings & Event Locations

Located just south of Westheimer in the Westchase District, AMC Studio 30 Dunvale will be the site for all film screenings throughout the 10-day celebration.

As for all other festivities, The Houston Marriott Westchase Hotel will serve as celebration headquarters and Official Festival Club, filmmakers will gather each night to meet and mingle while discussing new productions.

Individual events include the Opening Night Champagne Gala, nine Master Class Seminars, China Night Awards Gala, and REMI Grand Awards Gala.

Both the hotel and the Festival Club, where international filmmakers gather after the films, are open to the public, who are invited to join in for drinks and discussion.

Ticket Options

Film lovers vying to see the REMI Award-winning films and mingle amongst filmmakers need look no further than WorldFest-Houston.

WorldFest films, events, galas, receptions, awards dinners, and the Master Class Seminars are always open to the public.

Tickets to the Opening Night Premiere include the WorldFest program and are $15 per person for the film only or $30 for the premiere and the post-film Champagne Gala Party.

Ticket prices start at $7.50 for matinee screenings until 5pm; $12.50 for evening 7pm and 9pm screenings; $100 for a Film Buff Pass which is good for 11 admissions in any combination (but does not include the After Party); the $150 Silver Screen Pass is good for all screenings (and the After Party); the $395 Gold VIP Pass is good for all premiers and includes the nine Master Class Seminars, and the $750 per person carte blanche VIP Platinum All Festival Pass includes every single thing.
