Celebrate Mexican American culture with a weekend of celebrations, food and drink specials, concerts and more in Houston on Cinco de Mayo, Sunday, May 5, 2024.
Commemorating the date of a pivotal Mexican army victory over France in 1862, Cinco de Mayo has come to be a day of celebration in the United States.
Today, it represents a moment where the community can take part in longstanding traditions of Mexican American culture through concerts, culinary treats, markets and more.

Pre-Cinco Festivities
- Cinco de Mayo at Miller: ¡Viva Mexico¡ Viva America! at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Friday, May 3 | FREE – The longstanding annual tradition at Miller Outdoor Theatre is back with another night of Cinco de Mayo celebration, featuring the nationally recognized talents of Ballet Folklorico de Los Angeles with Mariachi Garibaldi. 8:15pm.
- LULAC Cinco de Mayo Parade in Downtown Houston | Saturday, May 4 | FREE – The festive LULAC Cinco de Mayo parade gathers elected officials, members of the community, businesses, schools, and more to walk and dance to the rhythm of Latin music in Downtown. The route begins at Dallas and Bagby, passing through Louisiana, Walker, Smith and Lamar Streets. 10am.
- Crawfish de Mayo at New Magnolia Brewing | Saturday, May 4 | No Cover – Crawfish get a spicy, Mexican-inspired makeover at this fun festival at the brewery. Expect Latin flavors that will pair perfectly with New Magnolia’s brews. Food and drink are on you. Noon.
- East End Street Fest at the Espalande on Navigation | Saturday, May 4 | FREE – Held during Cinco de Mayo week, this festival celebrates the art, music and heritage of East End with dance performances, live bands, artwork and plenty of fun for kids at the Plaza de los Niños. Noon to 7pm.
- Galveston Island Cinco de Mayo Fiesta at Old Galveston County Courthouse | Saturday, May 4 | FREE – The Island hosts this festival, complete with live music, stage cars, local vendors, and other activities. It’s a family-friendly event offering all-day Cinco fun in Galveston. 1pm to 9pm.
- Cinco de Mayo Wrestling Showdown at 8th Wonder Brewery | Saturday, May 4 – Celebrate Cinco with a night of lucha libre wrestling in the backyard of the EaDo brewery. $30. 6pm to 10pm.
Cinco de Mayo, Sunday, May 5, 2024
- Cinco De Mayo Celebration at Children’s Museum Houston – Celebrate Cinco de Mayo, a day that commemorates a historical Mexican victory, with live performances, DIY Pinata Art Workshop, and story time in the Museum District. $17. 10am to 4pm.
- Cinco de Mayo at J-Bar-M Barbecue | No Cover – The EaDo bbq spot hosts a day party with live music by Los Skarnales, plus live painting with Donkeeboy and Donkeemom, exclusive menu items and a pop-up market with local vendors. 11am to 4pm.
- Pearland Market Days presents Cinco de Mayo at Pearland KC Hall | FREE – More than 90 vendors set up in Pearland for a Cinco fest with play houses, face painters and a petting zoo, plus live DJs and ice cold beer at this family and pet-friendly event. 11am to 5pm.
- Cinco de Mayo Market at Karbach Brewing Company | FREE – Toast to Cinco festivities with Micheladas in the biergarten, beer samplings, food trucks, local vendors and more. Grab your friends and come out for a fun afternoon. 11am to 6pm.
- Cinco de Mayo Celebration at Traders Village Houston | FREE – The Northwest Houston marketplace celebrates Cinco with an afternoon of music, dance, traditional food and festive fun. Free to attend; $5 parking. Noon to 5pm.
- Cinco de Mayo with Shop Local Market at Houston Farmers Market | FREE – Celebrate the day with Latin jams on vinyl spun by DJ Candela, $5 margs from Comalito, tasty tamales and desserts, and Shop Local’s artisans, artists, and makers. 1pm to 5pm.
- Maíz Mania at Equal Parts Brewing – The Second Ward brewery hosts an elote showdown alongside the return of their corn lager known as Dadpils. Come by for all the corn you can eat (and judge), stay for live music, craft brew and a lucha libre finale. $50 and up. Noon to 6pm.
- Cinco de Mayo at Kemah Boardwalk | FREE – The waterfront destination celebrates Cinco with ballet folklorico performances, kids’ crafts and activities, and all-day live Tejano from Son Vacilon and Roberto Pulido. Noon to 10pm.
- Cinco De Mayo with Pride Houston at Axelrad | FREE – The Third Ward backyard hosts a Cinco celebration by teaming up with Pride Houston for a lively afternoon filled with delicious tamales, crawfish, music and the announcement of this year’s Pride Parade Grand Marshals. 1pm to 6pm.
- Cinco de Mayo Party at Social Beer Garden | No Cover – This Cinco blowout celebrates Mexican American culture with a backyard celebration featuring pastor tacos and Mexican bbq, complimentary drinks from Don Julio Tequila, a grito contest, and DJs spinning hip-hop, cumbia and everything in-between. Arrive by Uber and receive a free Jell-o shot. 3pm to 8pm.
- Lone Star Cup: Cinco de Mayo Edition at Houston Polo Club – After Derby Day celebrations on Saturday, fill your weekend with more ponies when the polo club continues their spring season celebrations, featuring a pregame mariachi performance to kick things off. David Cordúa’s The Lymbar will serve up Argentine and Brazilian–inspired fare, and there’s plenty more festivities to enjoy on game day. $18 and up. 5pm.
- Cinco de Mayo: Bailo DJ Set at Bauhaus – The Downtown EDM venue hosts a mega Cinco bash with dozens of DJs playing back-to-backs, capped off with Bailo delivering house vibes deep into the night. 7pm.
