Head over to 14 Pews in East Sunset Heights to celebrate and help save the Astrodome, with a screening of the 1970 film Brewster McCloud and beer from 8th Wonder Brewery on Wednesday evening, October 23, 2013.
Robert Altman’s quirky and whimsical 1970 film, shot in Houston and inside the Astrodome itself, is the main event of the night. Dene Hofheinz, whose father built the Dome, will introduce the film and share some anecdotes about the Astrodome. Afterwards Gary Chason, who was cast stars such as Bud Cort, Sally Kellerman, Stacy Keach, Margaret Hamilton, Shelley Duvall and Michael Murphy in the film, will speak about his time working on the movie.
Cold beer from 8th Wonder Brewery will be on hand and James Glassman, the Houstorian, will speak briefly about the vote to “Save the Dome” on November 5.
