Find your next favorite book at a creative, community-centric hub for engaged Houston readers at Brazos Bookstore.

Located in the heart of West University near the Rice Village, Brazos Bookstore is a great one-stop shop to connect readers with the best contemporary and classic literature, non-fiction, art and architecture monographs, and books for children.

Founded in 1974 by Karl Kilian, Kilian opened Brazos Bookstore to encourage the growth and development of the emerging Houston literary scene with a clear focus on personalized service, community engagement, and passionate curation.

Today, Brazos Bookstore continues to be locally owned by a group of twenty-seven Houstonians who came together and purchased the bookstore when Kilian announced his retirement in 2006.

In addition to their curated selection and excellent staff recommendations, Brazos also offers programs to inspire curious readers. Readers can regularly engage with emerging and established authors in person through free, interactive book signing events.
