At the top of each week “My Top 5” showcases enterprising and creative Houstonians making things happen in H-Town, revealing their favorite things to do in their down time. This week, we hear from John Boyert, owner of Boyert Shooting Centers in Houston and Katy who shares some of his favorites inside and outside the Loop.
My Top 5 Things to Do in Houston
by John Boyert
- Houston Texans – No matter how busy I get with the stores, I always make time to get to NRG Stadium and watch the Texans play at home. NRG Stadium is an amazing venue – the service, the food the crowd, and of course the game.
- Masraff’s – Houston has some of the best restaurants in the country, for diversity, taste and service. Masraff’s is by far my favorite restaurant in town, they have never disappointed me with their menu, huge wine selection and service. Russell and Tony’s staff is so exceptional with their service that I have tried to bring that level of service to my stores.
- Stogies World Class Cigars – Besides firearms, I have a passion for a cigar paired with a great Scotch or bourbon. Jorge and his staff know their stuff. He always has the perfect recommendation for me. This is my go-to place to relax after work and just kick my boots up and get away. I love this place so much I had to join their VIP club and now if I could only get Masraff’s to open next door.
- Memorial Park – I have always been a fan of the outdoors and to have such a great park right down the street in a city as large as Houston is amazing. I try to get out with my German shepherd for a run as often as I can.
- Dynamic Fitness, Galleria – Fitness has always been a large part of my life every before I joined the 75th Ranger RGT. I have never been a fan of a lot of the gyms in Houston as they seem more of a meetup spot than a workout center. Dynamic has all the free weights and equipment I need with none of the crowds.
