Dig into live book events, the latest appearances by authors, and more with our roundup of book and literary events happening in Houston in March 2026.

When I was a kid, I basically lived in the Cranston Public Library’s Arlington branch and the Henry Barnard School library. I was that kid who always had a book in my bag, in the backseat of the car, on the beach. I think that’s part of the reason, even as an adult, I love great children’s books.

There are two author events this month featuring incredible writers of middle-grade novels. My childhood best friend Hannah introduced me to Gordon Korman’s Bruno and Boots series when we were about 9. I’ve followed his career ever since. He’s in town this month. So is Meg Medina, whose Newberry Award-winning novel Merci Suarez Changes Gears was one of my favorite books the year I read it. Both are in Houston as part of Inprint’s Cool Brains series, which I think is one of our city’s best literary offerings.

I love a good book release party, and Katy Budget Books has one that looks super fun. I also love that there is an event this month that you can enjoy with your furry friends. Political junkies will want to head to Brazos Bookstore this month for an event that looks at the past and future of Lone Star State politics.

Read on for more happenings on Houston’s literary scene.

Go read books, Houston!
