Take to the glowing blue streets at the Blue Cure Night Run and Walk 5k in Downtown Houston on Saturday evening, September 27, 2014.
As the sun goes down this Saturday evening, Downtown Houston will take on a blue glow as runners, walkers and anti-cancer enthusiasts come together in an evening run and outdoor party.
City Hall will be lit up in blue to recognize Blue Cure and September as National Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Blue lasers and light projections, along with blue glow sticks and glow necklaces, will set the stage for the run. KHOU’s Lily Jang will be on hand to emcee.
Starting from the historic Sam Houston Park, runners will head out and back on the course along Allen Parkway, recently lined with its own blue lights as part of the enhancements of Buffalo Bayou Park. After the run, participants can take part in a special nighttime outdoor Zumba class. Non-runners can also opt to register only for the Zumba class.
And the afterparty will keep the glow going with music, refreshments and more. Head out for a night of fun and help supportdads, sons, brothers, husbands, uncles, granddads and friends.
Proceeds go to support Blue Cure.
