- México en el Corazón at Discovery Green | Friday, September 9 | FREE – Immerse yourself in the colors, artistry and music of Mexico with mariachis, folkloric ballet, and more in this production that features more than 50 performers in stunning traditional costumes. 7pm to 10pm.
- Along the Euphrates: The Music of Iraq and Syria at Hobby Center | Friday, September 9 – Immerse yourself in the music of one of the oldest cultures on earth as the National Arab Orchestra performs at Hobby’s Zilkha Hall. $85 and up. 8pm.
- 5th Annual Jaipur Literature Festival Houston at Asia Society Texas | Friday, September 9 & Saturday, September 10 – Internationally acclaimed authors and local writers spotlight this two-day event, called “the greatest literary show on earth.” The weekend includes panels and discussions, a dinner and more, all celebrating the hope and community books can offer. $20; $5 for students. $50 for a weekend pass. Friday 7pm to 10pm; Saturday 10am to 6pm.
- My Name is Not Mom at Wortham Center | Friday, September 9 & Saturday, September 10 – Embark on a hilarious journey through motherhood with internet sensations Tiffany Jenkins, Meredith Masony, and Dena Blizzard. The comic trio shares their take on mothering through the sleepless nights of the toddler years, middle school craziness, and trying not to physically attack a high schooler. $40 to $60. 7:30pm both nights.
- Polish Harvest Festival at Our Lady of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church | Friday, September 9 to Sunday, September 11 | FREE – Based on the centuries-old Polish tradition of Dozynki, an end of harvest jubilee celebration, the Polish Harvest Festival combines traditional and modern elements featuring food, drink, and entertainment, plus a Chrildren’s Corner that offers an area full of exciting games, face painting, bounce houses and more. Though free to attend, food and drinks are on you. Times vary.
- Houston Astros vs. Los Angeles Angels at Minute Maid Park | Friday, September 9 to Sunday, September 11 – The Astros host Shohei Ohtani and the Angels for the final time this season, across a weekend that features a Justin Verlander ’90s jersey giveaway, a Kyle Tucker bobblehead, and First Responders Day with a commemorative coin up for grabs to the first 10,000 fans. $12 and up. - Mid-Autumn Festival at Children’s Museum Houston | Saturday, September 10 – The Vietnamese Culture and Science Association partners with the Children’s Museum Houston for a Mid-Autumn fest featuring a lion dance, costume and lantern contests, story time, and more. $15 for ages 1 and up. 10am to 6pm.
- Fall Craft Market at Houston Center for Contemporary Craft | Saturday, September 10 | No Cover – The Museum District outpost for contemporary craft artists hosts a local artisan and maker market where you can shop crafts and goods while enjoying artist demonstrations, food and music. 11am to 3pm.
- Hemptember Market at Railway Heights Market | Saturday, September 10 | No Cover – Celebrate the arrival of fall with this hemp-focused market bustling with more than 40 local vendors, a live DJ, food and drink, dancing and plenty of good vibes. Shop sweets, jewelry, apparel, tarot and more. Free admission; $25 for a High Pass that includes a goodie bag with more than $100 of products from sponsors. 4pm to 10pm.
- Stereolab in Concert at White Oak Music Hall | Saturday, September 10 – The dreamy avant pop group is stopping in Houston on their North American Tour in support of Pulse of the Early Brain, the fifth addition to their Switched On compilation series. $37.50 and up. 8pm.
- Houston Texans vs. Indianapolis Colts at NRG Stadium | Sunday, September 11 – The Texans open the 2022 NFL season at home against division rivals from Indy. $69 and up. Noon.
