- 42nd Annual Festival Chicano at Miller Outdoor Theatre | Thursday, October 7 to Saturday, October 9 | FREE – The annual Festival Chicano returns to the Hermann Park stage, highlighting the artistic creativity that has developed in the Chicano cultural experience. Concerts through the three-day event include Little Joe y La Familia alongside Los Texmaniacs on Thursday; Ram Herrera with Grupo Aviso, plus Adalberto, J.R. Gomez and Demmi Garcia on Friday; David Lee Garza y Los Musicales performs with Shelly Lares on Saturday, which will also be livestreamed. 7pm each night.
- Modest Mouse with Future Islands at White Oak Music Hall | Friday, October 8 – With their seventh studio album, alt rock band Modest Mouse take a psychedelic path in The Golden Casket, and brings these latest tracks plus fan faves to the White Oak lawn, joined by Baltimore-based Future Islands. - Gold Over America Tour with Simone Biles at Toyota Center | Friday, October 8 – Houston native and the most decorated gymnast of all-time, Simone Biles highlights the G.O.A.T. Tour that will also feature Olympic-medaling gymnasts Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Grace McCallum and MyKayla Skinner. - Gabriel Iglesias at NRG Arena | Friday, October 8 & Saturday, October 9 – Rescheduled from April 2020, the Los Angeles-based comedian finally heads out on his Beyond the Fluffy Tour, bringing all new material for two nights of high hilarity. Tickets range from $46 to more than $122, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 8pm each night.
- CAF Wings over Houston Airshow 2021 at Ellington Field | Saturday, October 9 & Sunday, October 10 – One of the top airshows in the nation, Wings Over Houston showcases vintage World War II aircraft and modern aviation with soaring spectacles, reenactments and high-flying aerobatics. Simulator rides, a kid’s carnival, merchandise and autograph booths will also be on-site. General admission tickets are $50 for one adult and up to six children (ages 14 and under). Discounts are available when purchasing online. 8am to 5pm.
- Opening of the 47th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival in Todd Mission | Saturday, October 9 – The Texas Renaissance Festival returns to Todd Mission, northwest of Houston, for 8 weekends of fall fun through November, with differing themes and special events each week. There are hand-powered rides, fun games of skill, exciting attractions, and fun children’s activities located throughout New Market Village. Saturdays and Sundays 9am to 8pm.
- Pitmaster Party: Wild Game Edition at Dozier’s BBQ | Saturday, October 9 – Dozier’s pitmaster Jim Buchanan is rounding up some of his closest industry friends for a special outdoor event benefiting the Fulshear Police Foundation. The pitmaster lineup includes Anthony McDonald of Dozier’s and guest cook Robert Lerma; Patrick Feges of Feges BBQ (Houston); Quy Hoang of Blood Bros. Barbecue (Bellaire); Russell Roegels of Roegels Barbecue (Houston); John Brotherton of Brotherton’s Black Iron Barbecue (Pflugerville); Ara Malekian of Harlem Road BBQ (Richmond); Brett Jackson of Brett’s Barbecue Shop (Katy); and Scott Moore of Tejas Chocolate & Barbecue (Tomball). Each will feature a dish using wild game meat, and the party will also feature live music on Dozier’s deck. Tickets are $75 and include entry and samples from each bbq spot. Beverages can be purchased separately. 11am to 4pm.
- Houston Reggae Fest at Peggy Park | Saturday, October 9 – Houston’s premier Reggae festival is back for another year of live performances dedicated to the Jamaican-based genre. There will be live music from artists like Collie Buddz, Gyptian, Jemere Morgan and many more. Guests can also enjoy food vendors on site. Tickets range from $25 to $175. Noon to 10pm.
- Oktoberfest at Eureka Heights Brewing Co. | Saturday, October 9 | No Cover – Swing through the Heights brewery for an afternoon of Oktoberfest fun, including sauerkraut, pretzels, and brats from Kortex BBQ, live music from Jodie Mikula Orchestra, and tasty Eureka Heights brews that you can drink from Das Boots. 3pm to 7pm.
- Legends of the Streetz, featuring Rick Ross, Jeezy, Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, Lil Kim & more at Toyota Center | Saturday, October 9 – A star-studded lineup of hip-hop legends arrives at Toyota Center in Downtown, featuring Rick Ross, Jeezy, Gucci Mane, 2 Chainz, Fabolous, Lil Kim, Boosie Badazz, and more. Tickets range from $65 to more than $600, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 7pm.
- Sweet Like Pan Dulce Pop-Up at Tenfold Coffee Company | Sunday, October 10 | No Cover – Cure that sweet tooth craving at this pop-up celebrating this tasty treat in the Heights. The event will have music, drinks, and interactive photo installations. 10am to 3pm.
- Houston Texans vs. New England Patriots at NRG Stadium | Sunday, October 10 – The Texans will look to defend home turf against the visiting Patriots. Tickets range from $59 to over $350, but you may find better, cheaper, or hard-to-get seat using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. Noon.
- Halloween Pup Crawl & Pet Expo at Houston Arboretum & Nature Center | Sunday, October 10 – Bring your furry friend for a pup-tacular Sunday at the Houston Arboretum & Nature Center. Dress your pup in costume for a chance to win fun prizes while exploring the Arboretum trails. There will be local pet vendors at the expo and attendees will get a commemorative Pup Crawl glass to fill with Saint Arnold brews. If a new pet is in your future, pet adoptions will also be taking place. $40 for ages 21 and up; free for ages 20 and under. 4pm to 7pm.
- Houston Dash vs. North Carolina Courage at BBVA Stadium | Sunday, October 10 – In their second-to-last home game of the regular season, the Dash are sitting on the cusp of the playoffs and will need three points to better their shot at another trophy. - J. Cole with 21 Savage, Morray at Toyota Center | Sunday, October 10 – Joined by his “My Life” collaborators, 21 Savage and Morray, J.
