- Broadway Across America presents Hadestown at Hobby Center | Daily − The Tony-winning Broadway musical lands in Downtown for one week, presenting a modern, hell-raising take on two classic tales from Greek mythology in a journey to the underworld. $45 and up, but you may find cheaper, better, or hard-to-get seats on the online resale marketplace. - Grand Re-Opening of the Station Theater | Friday, January 7 & Saturday, January 8 – The improv theater along Houston Avenue finally re-opens to the public, with a slate of shows that feature different skits, audience participation, and a whole lot of laughs. Dr. Peter J. Hotez headlines the second evening at the Supernova Storytelling show. $12 per show. Times vary.
- All Access Art Market at Finn Hall | Friday, January 7 | No Cover – The monthly art bazaar in Downtown returns for 2022 with a hip-hop themed market that features artwork and goods from local creatives, plus light bites and a cocktail lounge. 6pm to 11pm.
- Comedian Pedro Gonzalez at Rudyard’s British Pub | Friday, January 7 & Saturday, January 8 – The Riot Comedy Show welcomes Colombian stand-up comedian, Pedro Gonzalez, who challenges his audiences with bright insights on living, dating and working in America. $15 and up. Friday 7:30pm; Saturday 7:30pm and 10pm.
- Sojourns on the Silk Road: From the Orient to the Occident at MATCH | Friday, January 7 & Saturday, January 8 | Virtual Option – Take a musical journey of French and Spanish art song at a concert featuring mezzo-soprano Jessica Blau, pianist Katherine Ciscon, guitarist Marc Rosenberg, and flamenco dancer Fanny Ara. Livestreamed on Friday only. $25; $15 for students. 7:30pm.
- Mavis Staples at the Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston | Friday, January 7 – The legendary, pioneering gospel and R&B singer makes an appearance at Galveston’s historic stage on Postoffice Street. $38 to $98. 8pm.
- Winter 2022: The Bridal Extravaganza Show at George R. Brown | Saturday, January 8 & Sunday, January 9 | Save $5 − Grab your favorite bride-to-be and get an entire wedding planned in one weekend as the biggest bridal show in the country returns to Downtown. - 13th Annual BowiElvis Fest at Continental Club | Saturday, January 8 – The annual celebration of two music icons who happen to share the same birthday, David Bowie and Elvis Presley, returns to the Mid-Main venue with performances on indoor and outdoor stages, along with face painting, games, a costume contest, prizes, food and more. $20 to $35. 7pm.
- Houston Texans vs. Tennessee Titans at NRG Stadium | Sunday, January 9 – The 2021 regular season comes to a close for the Texans, who will face off against rivals from the top of their division, the Titans. $36 and up, but you may find better, cheaper, or hard-to-get seat using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. Noon.
- Star Wars Night: Houston Rockets vs. Minnesota Timberwolves at Toyota Center | Sunday, January 9 – Feel the force as the Rockets take on the Timberwolves on Star Wars Night. Enjoy special themed entertainment from a galaxy far, far away and snap a photo with characters walking the concourse. $10 and up, but you may find some better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 7pm.
