- Cheers to Betty White! at Eureka Heights Brew Co. | Friday, January 14 | No Cover – The Heights brewery toasts to the late, great Betty White with two IPAs that take her namesake, plus an evening of Betty White raffle prizes, rose cupcakes and a commemorative take-home glass. 3pm to 9pm.
- Truchard Vineyards Wine Tasting at Revival Market | Friday, January 14 – Revival Market invites wine enthusiasts to a special night of tasting and learning about Truchard Vineyards from Napa, California. All wines will be paired with small bites from the kitchen, as well as a charcuterie and cheese display to snack on throughout the night. Tickets are $85. 5:30pm to 8:30pm.
- Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in Concert at Jones Hall | Friday, January 14 to Sunday, January 16 – Houston Symphony transports audiences to the magical world of Hogwarts as they take on the moving scores of the 2009 film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. $34 to $134. Friday & Saturday at 7:30pm; Sunday at 2:30pm.
- DaCamera presents Etienne Charles’ Creole Soul at Wortham Theater Center | Friday, January 14 – Making a Houston debut, jazz trumpeter Etienne Charles and his band, Creole Soul, take the Wortham Center stage to perform their distinctive version of modern jazz. $37.50 and up. 8pm.
- Fort Bend Home & Garden Show & Winter Gift Market at Fort Bend County Fairgrounds | Saturday, January 15 & Sunday, January 16 – Plan your next home and plant projects at the two-day home and garden show in Fort Bend. In addition to vendors doling out goods in home improvement, decorating and interior design, landscapes and more, the Winter Gift Market will also offer up gifts alongside wine and food samples. $7; free for ages 12 and under. Saturday 10am to 5pm; Sunday 11am to 5pm.
- 26th Annual Martin Luther King Day Celebration at Children’s Museum Houston | Saturday, January 15 – Honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with messages of unity, justice, and peace at Children’s Museum Houston. This year’s celebration includes a jazz ensemble performance, peace march, awards ceremony, and an all-day display of the “I Have a Dream” speech. $5 per person. 11am to 2pm.
- Maze & the Isley Brothers in Concert at Toyota Center (Postponed) | Saturday, January 15 – Superheros of soul come together for a double-headlining show in Downtown, featuring hits like “Can’t Get Over You” and “It’s Your Thing.” $69.50 to $199.50. 7:30pm.
- D Smoke in Concert at Warehouse Live | Saturday, January 15 – The winner of Netflix’s Rhythm + Flow and two-time Grammy-nominated rapper, D Smoke stops by the EaDo stage to tour his sophomore studio album, War & Wonders. $25 in advance; $30 day of show. 8pm.
- 50th Annual Chevron Houston Marathon in Downtown | Sunday, January 16 – Though you might not be able to lace up for Houston’s signature run event, you can still celebrate the runners as they pound pavement from Downtown through the city’s districts like Montrose, Medical Center, the Galleria, Memorial Park, and back again to finish at Avenida de las Americas. Check out the marathon course and find your spot to cheer on thousands of participants. 7am.
- Hop Topic World’s Annual Chili Cook-Off at Holler Brewing Co. | Sunday, January 16 – Taste through chilis and enjoy Holler craft beers at this annual chili cook-off. General admission is $18 and includes unlimited chili samples, a swag bag (for the first 50 tickets), a voting token and giveaways. Noon; judging begins at 2pm.
