- Catastrophic Theatre presents They Do Not Move at MATCH | Thursday, December 8 to Saturday, December 10 | Final Weekend – Imagine a future where American democracy is vanquished and monarchist forces roam the land seeking out waifs and strays. - Houston Grand Opera presents El Milagro del Recuerdo at the Wortham Center | Thursday, December 8 to Sunday, December 11 | Opening Weekend – This family-friendly, Mariachi opera celebrates family and tradition, transporting audiences to Mexico to experience the story of Laurentino, a bracero who comes back from the United States to share the holiday with his family, and his wife Renata, who worries his time away is changing him. $30 and up. Showtimes vary.
- All Access Art Holiday Market at Railway Heights Market | Friday, December 9 | No Cover – Near Washington Ave, Railway Heights hosts a special holiday edition of the monthly art market that normally takes place in Downtown. Gather to check out local creatives and craftspeople that are selling their work while you enjoy music, food and more. 6pm to 10pm.
- Rod Wave in Concert at Toyota Center | Friday, December 9 – A trailblazer in the soul trap genre, Rod Wave brings his chart-topping 2022 release, Beautiful Mind, along with his brand new EP, Jupiter’s Diary: 7 Day Theory, to the Downtown arena. $35. 8pm.
- Shaq’s Bass All Stars at Rise Rooftop | Friday, December 9 – NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal gets behind the turntable to DJ, along with special guests Kill The Noise, GG Magree and Solton, from the rooftop in Midtown. $50. 10pm.
- Tomball German Festival Christmas Market at Tomball Depot | Friday, December 9 to Sunday, December 11 | No Cover – Do as the Germans do and celebrate Christmas with plenty of food, beer, and wine, as well as live music on three stages, a petting zoo, and a holiday market featuring more than 150 vendors with antiques, arts and crafts, souvenirs, and more. Times vary.
- Human Rights Day at Holocaust Museum Houston | Saturday, December 10 | FREE – The museum celebrates the global Human Rights Day with free admission, bilingual story times, guest speakers and special performances throughout the day. Swing by early and you can also catch the Astros’ World Series trophy until 1pm. 10am to 5pm.
- College Basketball: Houston Cougars vs. Alabama Crimson Tide at the Fertitta Center | Saturday, December 10 – Ranked nationally at No. 1, the Coogs will face their stiffest test of the season thus far when the Top 15 Alabama rolls through campus. Tickets are sold out at the venue, but you may find hard-to-get seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 2pm.
- 2022 Lights in the Heights in Woodland Heights | Saturday, December 10 | FREE – Stroll around Woodland Heights and look at the beautifully lit homes, then after admiring the festive scenery, make your way to area bars and restaurants for tons of after-party fun. 6pm to 9pm.
- Béla Fleck and Punch Brothers at Cullen Performance Hall | Saturday, December 10 – The 15-time Grammy Award–winning banjo virtuoso will be live on the University of Houston campus, performing music from his 2021 release My Bluegrass Heart. $37.20 and up. 7:30pm.
- Annual Tacky Christmas Sweater Party at True Anomaly Brewing | Saturday, December 10 | No Cover – The EaDo brewery hosts this annual event, which includes prizes for best sweater, couples costume and more. 8pm to midnight.
- 9th Annual Islamic Arts Festival at Masjid Al-Salam | Saturday, December 10 & Sunday, December 11 | FREE – Look for live calligraphy demonstrations, henna tattoo, painting, Arabesque pattern coloring and children’s activities, in addition to a wide selection of featured artists and their art from across the country at this annual festival. 10:30am to 5pm.
- Sunday Funday: Hygge for the Holidays at M-K-T | Sunday, December 11 | FREE – M-K-T is bringing together comfy, chill vibes at a free Sunday Funday celebration featuring live local music by The Birthday Club and Sergio Trevino, special goodies at participating M-K-T stores and pop-ups offering unique custom products, stocking stuffers, holiday items, gifts, and more. Noon to 4pm.
- Houston Rockets vs. Milwaukee Bucks at Toyota Center | Sunday, December 11 – Giannis Antetokounmpo leads the Bucks to face a young Rockets squad on the Downtown hardcourt. $20 and up. 6pm.
- Zoé in Concert at House of Blues | Sunday, December 11 – The Grammy Award and Latin Grammy Award–winning Mexican rock band, Zoé takes the stage at House of Blues. $49.50 and up. 8pm.
