- Houston Ballet: Nutcracker Market Spring 2021 at NRG Center | Friday to Sunday – The popular market returns for an in-person event, showcasing unique seasonal items, summer apparel, vacation accessories, gourmet food and much more from over 150 merchants. Tickets must be purchased in advance; $20 plus fees online, or $18 at HEB business centers. Friday 9am to 7pm; Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm.
- Selena Day at Saint Arnold Brewing Company | Friday | No Cover – Celebrate the queen of Tejano’s birthday with special menu items like extra pepperoni pizza, chamoy pickles, and a trio of chocolates while you enjoy Selena classics, deep cuts, and Tejano and Cumbia hits from Bombón DJ Mexican Blackbird. No cover. Food and drinks are on you. 5pm to 8pm.
- Houston Rockets vs. Denver Nuggets at Toyota Center | Friday – The Rockets host a tough Denver Nuggets team that’s aiming for playoff positioning in the Western Conference, led by MVP candidate Nikola Jokic. $16 to over $300, but you may find better or cheaper seats on the TicketNetwork marketplace. 7pm.
- Houston Dynamo FC vs. San Jose Earthquakes at BBVA Stadium | Friday – The Dynamo embark on another MLS season with high hopes and playoff expectations, opening their season against their San Jose rivals. $48 to over $120, but you may find better or cheaper seats using the TicketNetwork online marketplace. 7pm.
- Comedian Felipe Esparza at Houston Improv | Friday to Sunday – Crack up through the weekend when comedian, actor, and winner of Last Comic Standing, Felipe Esparza hits Houston Improv for five socially-distanced shows of hilarious stand-up material. $120 to $180; sold by the table. Showtimes vary.
- Houston Symphony presents Hollywood Serenade: The Artistry of Caroline Campbell at Jones Hall | Friday to Sunday | Virtual Option – Known for her showstopping flair, Caroline Campbell is an accomplished violinist and will join with the Houston Symphony for three evenings to perform silver screen favorite tunes from The Godfather, West Side Story and more. If you’d rather watch from home, tune in to the virtual performance on Saturday, April 17. Tickets range from $34 to $115; virtual tickets are $20. Friday and Saturday at 8pm; Sunday at 2:30pm.
- Opening Exhibition: Detention Nation & Hostile Terrain 94 at Blaffer Art Museum | Saturday | FREE – Explore difficult questions about immigration and border issues with the opening of these two, month-long installations that tackle the incredibly dangerous trek migrants make across the Sonoran Desert, as well as the conditions and system of detention in place for those that cross the border. Advance appointments strongly recommended. Noon to 5pm.
- Buffalo Bayou Partnership presents Line x Light x Color: Livestream Dance Performance | Saturday | FREE | Virtual – Log on to witness a site-specific dance performance from Laura Gutierrez, entitled Line x Light x Color, which was created in response to Buffalo Bayou Park’s closing exhibition, Estructuras Monumentales by Carmen Herrera. This event will be held online on Zoom. 5:30pm to 6:30pm.
- Katy Sip ‘N Stroll at The ARK by Norris Event Center | Saturday – Katy’s original wine, beer and food festival returns, featuring food samples from top Katy-area restaurants, over 100 wine selections, craft beer and select craft spirits, live music, and a vendor market. $65; VIP starts at $95. 6pm to 9pm.
- Earth Day at Discovery Green | Sunday | FREE – Commemorate Earth Day with a celebration in the heart of Downtown when Discovery Green Park hosts a screening of short films about Houston’s environment, a panel discussion examining the freeze of February 2021, and live painting as local artists complete murals throughout the park. Noon to 5pm.
- Hip-Hop Vintage Flea Market at Houston Graffiti Park | Sunday | No Cover – Held just outside of Downtown at the Houston Graffiti Building campus, this monthly family-friendly market deals in hip-hop culture, with local resellers and small businesses offering hip-hop-influenced apparel, art, and more. Noon to 5pm.
- MyOhMy Drag Show at Warehouse Live | Sunday – Welcome back Texas’ biggest touring drag show with a night of elaborate costumes, great music, and fantastic performers at the EaDo venue. $5 general admission; $15 table seating; check for discounted tickets. 7:30pm.
