Our My Top 5 feature showcases Houstonians who are shaping the culture in the city and impacting people’s lives. In turn, they share their own favorite things to do in Houston when they’re not hard at work. This week, we’re very pleased to feature Adrian ‘Producer Hoss’ Perez, executive producer of the Dean & Rog Show on The Eagle FM 106.9 and 107.5.

My Top 5 Things to Do in Houston

by Adrian Perez

  1. 8th Wonder Brewery – This is one of my favorite places to go to in Houston because they have three of my favorite things in one place: good beer, a great patio, and a pet-friendly environment. Not to mention they have cool see-saw tables.
  2. Johnny Steele Dog Park – I’m a huge animal lover. I currently have three rescue dogs and I’m certain that if they could speak they would tell me this is their favorite spot. There’s plenty of room for my pups to run in this dog paradise and there’s even a stream that flows throughout the park. In my experience, everyone that attends has been friendly and they always pick up after their pet. It’s a great place to spend some time with your furry friend.
  3. Houston’s Food Scene – We all know Houston is a hub for amazing food. Here are a few of my favorite spots to get my grub on. Spanky’s Pizza on the southeast side of the city is a must because you can never go wrong with pizza and margaritas. As for diners, Tel-Wink Restaurant and Grill has some of the best breakfast food out there and the prices are even better. Have you ever had food so good that it was life changing? Killen’s Barbeque is that kind of place and that’s exactly why it tops my list. Lastly, Champ Burger in the Second Ward is my favorite place to get a burger. Try it with an orange-cream shake.
  4. Nightingale Room – This bar has become one of my favorite places to grab a nightcap Downtown. The music selection is great! At one moment you can be jamming some Earth, Wind & Fire then next you’ll hear something that’s currently in style. The drinks and the atmosphere are one-of-a-kind too.
  5. Minute Maid Park – I grew up playing and loving to attend baseball games. So going to an Astros game at Minute Maid Park takes me straight back to my childhood. It’s a feeling that I simply cannot relive anywhere else, but the ballpark.
