Silence your cell phone and enjoy an independent film, timeless classic, midnight showing and more at Landmark’s River Oaks Theatre.

Located in the upscale River Oaks Shopping Center at the corner of West Gray and Shepherd, this historic theater is one of Houston’s last true movie palaces, having kept its beautifully ornate Art Deco interior since opening its doors in November of 1939.

Once passing under the theater’s stunning beacon of a marquee, folks can check out any of the theater’s 3 projection showrooms for the best lineup of independent/fiction films, documentaries, foreign language cinema, and special events like monthly midnight viewings of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and fan favorites like Die Hard on the weekends.

Operated by Landmark Theatres since 1976, the River Oaks now boasts one large screen downstairs, two smaller screens upstairs, a full-service bar and lounge on its 2nd floor (perfect for pairing a cocktail with your flick), the usual snack bar delights, and even, at times, plays host to film festivals, private screenings, and world premiere engagements.
