Dine on mouth-watering plates from a chic coastal kitchen serving seafood, grilled fare, a raw bar, creative cocktails and more at Star Fish.

Located at the intersection of Heights Blvd and E 2nd Street, Star Fish is the latest concept from Lee Ellis of Cherry Pie Hospitality in the Heights.

Ellis, who already owns and manages Pi Pizza and Petite Sweets, has arranged the menu to emphasize both classic seafood dishes and ambitious plates that, with the help of executive chef Armando Ramirez, round out a wide array of delicious offerings.

Where to Start

The menu, which (not surprisingly) is made up predominantly of seafood dishes, features more than 50 items, including shareable bites from the coastal raw bar and appetizers, chilled seafood platters, soups and salads, pasta, sandwiches, seafood cocktails and, of course, the delicious entrées.

Do your taste buds a refreshing favor and order a half-dozen Wood Grilled Gulf Oysters and complete the look with one of the five Signature Sauces –there’s one for each bite. I’m just saying.

If you’re looking for an insider pro-tip, pair your Sauce Fleur de Chartreuse bite with the cucumber-garnished Emerald Cove cocktail.

Appetizers

Stay the course with appetizers, and be sure to try the Parmesan Zucchini Sticks –which taste so good you’ll forget they aren’t bad for you. For an almost dessert try the Braised Heirloom Carrots that come with a sweet Greek yogurt that will make you think you skipped a few courses.

On the lighter side try the Puffy Crispy Lobster Tacos for a perfect hidden gem summer food with its sunny avocado salsa or the zesty Jumbo Lump Crab Meat for a salad that transcends the category.

For a nod to tapas, try the roasted red pepper-infused Sizzled Shrimp, which is perfect for dipping the complimentary “Crusty Bread” in –and everything else on the table for that matter.

A Well Curated Drink Menu

In addition to the incredible eats, you can wet your whistle with a drink selection that boasts an impressive selection of craft beers on tap and bottled, an impressive wine program, and more than 30 cocktails designed by Cherry Pie Hospitality’s beverage director, Laurie Harvey.

Transport yourself to cocktail heaven with Harvey’s Starfish Martini which leaves much to the imagination with its subtle essence of lemon.

For something deceptively smooth, try the Vesper Rosa –which offers the best of all worlds with its vodka, gin, and rosé makings. The same can be said for the Blueberry Ginger Mule with its tasteful take on a classic that features a house blueberry gastrique.

Or dive head first into tiki culture and tackle the Beach Blonde. Featuring four different rums, this boozy beast goes down a little too smooth. You’ve been warned.

The Main Course

Between the amazing cocktails and the tasty appetizers, it’s hard to even think about saving room, but I urge you to do your best and make some space for the tasty entrées.

Stare down your food and feast your eyes on the delicious Whole Gulf Red Snapper (grilled or fried) that come served with savory Kennebec Butter Fries and an amazing “Freak Sauce” –Sriracha and aioli mix.

Try the Italian-inspired Orecchiette with Lump Crabmeat for its creamy basil pesto sauce that takes the pasta up a whole zesty notch.

As for dessert, a selection of scrumptious options by Petite Sweets’ pastry chef, Susan Molzan will complete your tasty tour of Texas. Be sure to try our personal favorite, the Susan’s Famous Bread Pudding for a treat that tastes like home and makes you feel nostalgic –even if it’s your first time trying it.

There’s nothing like it.
